A. Don't Treep, Man (OTA)

Shinji can't, as a general rule, be bothered with the quest board. He's tired, okay. He was tired before he got here. Frankly, he was burnt out before he got to Liminal Space.

(He'd say the animal-parts curse didn't stick on him because he has built-in magic resistance, but he's honestly not sure if that's the case anymore or not.)

But. Tell him there's danger of a food shortage and he will do anything in his power to fucking well make sure there's not one. He's done his time with little to no food available, and he's not about to let it happen again.

He's on-site more than once in the time it takes to get the farms back to rights. Sometimes he's helping with the heavy lifting; others, he just shows up with some food for the people doing the heavy lifting to eat.

B. SEES House (closed to people who'd plausibly be there)

It's kinda weird, actually living with people from the dorm again.

In Liminal Space, Minako had her own room, Shinji didn't even live in his since Helena gave him a bed first and it would've been weird, and no one else from SEES overlapped with him. Not long enough to actually need a place to stay, anyway.

It's a good weird, but it's still kinda weird. In any case, it's no one he minds bothering him, if he's there to be bothered, and if nothing else he's bound to make sure everyone has dinner.

C. Some dipshit completely forgot about his birthday (closed to close CR)

It's August. Shinji's birthday is the 11th.

He hasn't thought about that fact at all, between his abysmal self-esteem and Liminal Space's general lack of... well, coherent time, really. Between-jaunts time was guesswork at best, and the jaunts themselves tended to have very weird calendars if they weren't on alternate Earths (and sometimes if they were).

If anything's gonna happen, it'll be up to his friends and acquaintances to make it happen. Mitsuru might be the only person here who even knows when Shinji's birthday is.

(OOC: Basically, a place for a partything to be plopped, if a partything is to be had. ICly, Shinji won't be remotely bothered if there isn't one; OOC, I won't either, since I only thought of this myself on Sunday. XD)

D. Kotone's the Wild Card here-- I mean, what?

...Okay, no, the curse is definitely not the shoujo-anime virus from Liminal making a comeback. That shit at least only gave people ears and tails, maybe wings at the outside.

On the other hand, this is far from the weirdest thing Shinji's ever seen, and he can meet rude with rude. (That's not saying much. He meets most things with rude.)

"What, you want me to just leave you buried next time?"

Gokudera's still not used to his goat legs, but at least he doesn't have to wear pants. It's kind of nice, actually, once he got used to it. His tail flicks about and he moves his hands to his hair, plucking out hay and fixing the center part so it won't be caught up in his little black horns.

"Tch! Just watch out next time! There are pixie nests all around. She could have gotten hurt!" He says and stomps a little cloven hoof, arms crossing indignantly as if Shinji personally pushed that hay bale over to crush the pixie. He may be rude, but at least he's a good? person.

"I wasn't even moving the hay until you went and got stuck. Take it up with someone else." Like maybe the zombies who made this goddamn mess in the first place.

He's not necessarily disagreeing with the pixie problem, mind.

"I didn't get stuck! I wa-a-a-as keeping her from getting crushed!" He growls and then grumbles, annoyed at how his voice is now getting a little weird. Stupid animal curse. Just how much of a goat even is he at this point?!

"And if you did, then you'd be cursed. Hell, we all might have been." Yeah he's thinking he took a bullet for the group of people helping out here. He's been cursed by pixies before. Not a fun time. All he did was yell a little and not dance for long enough when they wanted him to.

And even with the random bleating, this is far from the weirdest thing Shinji's ever seen. Even before Liminal Space, some of the stuff that happened during the Dark Hour got pretty out there.

"So... why would I throw hay at 'em? There's enough problems around here without makin' it worse."

Gokudera isn't trying to make this weird, or anything. It's not like he wanted to wake up with half his body as a goat. Weird shit happens, and that just... is what it is.

"Cause there's a lot of work that has to be done out here. Look, I'm not saying you intentionally threw hay on her, but just... watch where you put shit."

"I got the hay off you both, far as I can tell. So what exactly is your problem?"

Because now he's just kinda confused.

"The problem is that no one is keeping a god damned eye out for the pixies, obviously!" Hey look, Gokudera... that sounds like a job you've actually appointed yourself.

"It's not my problem! I'm trying to make sure none of us end up cursed! I'm just saying, keep an eye out." This has been a public service announcement from a goat-boy.

"Sounds like you're keeping an eye out." And the only reason Shinji doesn't add 'you have fun with that' is there's still one of them right there.

If he invites trouble back to the house Mitsuru will never let him hear the end of it.

"I'm trying to make sure we don't have a fucking food shortage on our hands, since that's a bigger problem than pixie curses."

"I can't oversee everything everyone is doing! This- that's too much work for one person!" He at least needs help getting the message out there.

"Yeah and if you have a pixie curse you so that you can't even walk forward, how are you supposed to help prevent a food shortage, huh?" He likes the fae creatures in this world, even if the pixies can be a real nuisance. They are a necessary part of how this world operates... as much as everyone is in their own right.

"Sure is, isn't it." Sorry, dude, you're maybe asking the wrong person for help with your awareness campaign.

Shinji shrugs. "Figured not gettin' cursed would do the trick."

“…” He settles a very annoyed little glare for those words. This guy doesn’t want to help, so Gokudera will take it upon himself to annoy the crap out of him.

“They also like sweets. You wouldn’t happen to have any, would you?”

"Brought some lemonade when I got here."

It'll have to do, if you wanna be obnoxious.

"Is it sweet?" Will the pixies like it?

Gokudera reaches into a bag he brought and pulls out what looks like a toy plesiosaurus and sets it down. It moves a bit, sliding towards the pixie nest and slapping its little plastic flippers against the ground.

Shinji shrugs. "Got sugar in it."

"Alright I'll give them some from you so that you won't be cursed."

And he walks right up, holding out a tiny orange soul-o cup about the size of a shot glass. Gokudera doesn't have anything smaller, and it's not really the right time of year to find acorn tops to use in place of cups.

"Lucky I still have some." Or maybe it's lucky he put it in that bottomless mug thing to bring it here.

How else was he gonna be sure there was enough for everyone?

"Very." He says, sounding relieved. It's hot out and they've been working hard. Gokudera's goat legs aren't very strong, and so maybe he's not cut out for helping lift as many large things. Honestly, he should probably be cleaning up a bit more and maintaining barriers about the pixie nests to keep people safe. It's either that, or he'll be following Shiro around.
