[ There's something totally off if it's Sasara himself who can't get a word in sideways! Right now he'd have a lot to say, too, stuff has happened—things grew—since Rosho left first this morning-- ]
–and a tail, ya see— Eh? [ Not that his partner can, right now. He's the one who called first on top of it all. ] Go home!?
[ Scratching his head in thought looks appropriately comical with added monkey features. For now, though, Sasara doesn't even get to consider it, either. It'd be funny, if Rosho's tone didn't induce worry right away, someone who doesn't get home before the day's well into the afternoon usually. He had a brief scroll through the network just before his phone rang, and maybe Sasara saw something. ]
W-well, yeah... Just wait there, don't head out yet! [ He'll pick him up from school, right away! ]
[ While knowledge of the murders happening in the city has stayed in the underbelly of the population, word's started to spread about the subsequent attack on animal mages, and not only had Rosho caught sight of a concerning alert on the network but the school had given a warning to both the faculty and the students about what was going on. Chaperoning was now essential, and teachers were allowed to take paid leave until this whole mess was sorted out. It was a nightmare.
If it wasn't for these stupid wings, he could sneak by unnoticed in public. Being too new to his new magic, the most he'd been able to do is shrink the size of the wings, but he couldn't get rid of them completely. And now he has to deal with the fact that Sasara seems to have sprouted animal features too. The best he could do was urge him to at least hide the tail on the way over.
Rosho stands rather nervously right outside the entrance of the school waiting for the first sign of Sasara. He scrolls through the network to keep his mind off of things, all the while he's basically got a whole army of pipe foxes scuttling around the area on the look-out. One on his shoulder chitters quietly.
RORO OKAY? SAFE, YES YES? NO BAD? GO HOME?
Rosho nods his head and replies but keeps his voice hushed. ]
Yeah... Sasara is coming to get me, so... don't be mad, okay? Please, just for now, until whatever's happening stops, be nice to him for a little bit? He wants to protect me as much as you do.
[ Archimedes clearly doesn't like hearing this as it gives a growl, but it tucks itself against Rosho's neck and doesn't say another word. ]
[ He's a smart monkey, alright! While Sasara is happy to see Rosho—in one piece, unharmed and all—that's a tail in his pants, too. He even hides his ears less conspicuously under a baseball cap.
Finding Rosho there in front of the building, hearing some noise, it's a perfectly comedic moment to shout— ]
Eureka! [ ( Haha, get it!?! Like discovering something! )
And also the pipe fox. Look, they're not just sworn but sworn-in enemies at this point, but since that thing's his partner's familiar, teasing it is just about all Sasara can do. It's not nearly as bad as trying to scratch his eyes out, or him trying to grab it ungently with his bare hands on day one. Ya could even say they made progress...! Well, that's a little too far.
The extra spring and sprint in Sasara's step, that carries him the last few meters, has nothing to do with wanting a headstart in another tussle with Archimedes. More like, he just wants to get to his partner. ]
Rosho, what's going on!? [ Apart from the obvious, that he's anew gawking at. Let's skip past the bird and feather puns Sasara already made this morning. He hasn't had time to check on the network again, so he's no more worried than before. ]
[ Without a good look of his face, Sasara actually does a pretty good job of disguising himself. Its not as if Rosho's glasses are intended to help with his vision after all. He could easily be mistaken for a stranger out in the street, passing by or coming to pick up a student, but that booming voice of his that never knows how to decrease in volume gives him away right off the bat. Before Rosho can even chide him for being so loud, there's a swell of little chipper voices, the pipe foxes in the area alerted not just to the appearance of a person but the call of their name. Or, the name they prefer using for themselves.
EUREKA! EUREKA!
They're all so loud that Rosho covers his ears for a second. ]
Shut up, no one asked you! I told ya not to say anything! Look out's over, go away already!
[ Every single fox disappears in a poof of smoke until its just the single one still curled up on Rosho's shoulder, which is bristled up and growling at Sasara until Rosho picks him up by the scruff of his neck. ]
I mean you too. Get lost, now.
[ With a miserable whine the last pipe fox is finally gone, leaving just Sasara and Rosho in the aftermath of whatever confusion they're still left in. Rosho sighs heavily. ]
I hate bein' able to talk to animals. Come on, I'll explain everything on the walk back home.
[ While he looks considerably irritated, Rosho shows no hesitation in taking Sasara's hand as they begin their walk away from the school. ]
[ BEEEEHH!! Their rivalry isn't likely to let up as long as both sides keep playing, and Sasara clearly sticks out his tongue to mock. He's won this one! If only he knew the pipe fox(es) had taken to calling themselves Eureka; the ego of that victory would shoot out through his ears. ]
For real? Talking to them's one thing, but ya hear them too and never tell me what they're saying!
[ Granted, that wouldn't help anyone. ]
Heh! What did ya think—? [ Even as Rosho begins to haul him along home. Suppose taking someone by the hand like that in public would 'a been out of the question too! He hasn't thought about these things since leaving Prismatica... ] —I haven't had to dress up and disguise like that in a while, ya know!
[ Sure, he loves being popular! But suppose it's a thing of "the grass is greener on the other side".
Ah, right... there was that part about Rosho being in trouble too. Sasara's look at his partner's back is none too secretive and disguised in contrast. UWAH...! Sorta takes ya back...! He's not keeping his eyes on the road. ]
They never say anything important. You're not missin' out on an engaging conversation.
[ He can only imagine that their arguments would get even more chaotic if Sasara knew the sort of stupid insults the pipe fox always has for him. The less they can engage further in their rivalry, the better, but Rosho can only ever do so much to keep them at bay. At least his familiar is relatively obedient enough to quit when told. Sasara hasn't picked up that sort of trick just yet.
You could say between the two of them, he's got the least amount of braincells, which says a lot for a human being. But having Sasara here makes him feel more secure than if he had a little fox accompanying him. Even a whole slew of them, as strong as they can be, just don't do the trick.
Rosho's sort of tempted to take a peek at what's under the cap Sasara is wearing, but he knows better than to blow his cover like that. ]
Its been a while, but you're good at it. [ It reminds him a lot of when they first started doing comedy... even if Rosho thought they weren't that big of a deal, people still flocked to them when they saw them out on the street, and Sasara's exuberance and sharp jokes he could pull out at the drop of a hat never failed to get him a crowd.
Even if it's not the way it normally should be, and he knows Sasara likes the attention, being able to walk through the street like this without worrying about any of that... feels really nice. Now if only things could be normal in the city for once. ]
I suggest you keep it up. At least until you're back to normal. News started to spread that people are gettin' attacked, specifically anyone that's walkin' around with animal parts. I don't know if its an individual person or a group but the suspicion is that someone with animal magic made these changes happen, and so they figure beating up people they assume have animal magic is the fix. Its stupid logic, but, that's how it is.
🙈🙉🙊 w/ Rosho
