I. Open House

"So, this is the castle..."

She wasn't sure how to feel with it being so open after an attempt on the King's life. Sure, they were sequestered into another area, but he wasn't that fair. And the tenacity a number in their group showed, that wouldn't matter even if guards were stationed. But... hopefully...

For now, she continued to explore was they were permitted to, passing up the food for the most part, but she may pause for a sip if they were serving wine or the like and observe others in attendance from the side.

Following that pause, she passed the public baths and decided to take her time in the library, examining the numerous spines of the books they could access, and generally keeping to herself there. She might consider a brief glance through one, but after she did so, she would be found in the gardens, admiring the blooms and just needing a breather. The reality of the situation had already sunk in, but it might be time to return to more familiar surroundings.

II. Healing Circle After Party

Meditation was something she could go for - get her mind cleared to organize and anticipate what might have to be done next... aside from the murders going on in Camelot. Despite her Death Magic, it wasn't as though she was being bothered by spirits to investigate - and the knights weren't looking for her assistance either.

So, she could breathe and gather herbs without fuss, and then...

... find a partner. Wonderful. She sighed.

If that's what needed to be done to proceed.

Glancing around, she spotted someone eventually and approached. "Do you have a partner?"

III. Doctor Is In

Helping out during the outbreak had gotten a foot in the door; enough that a little paperwork was the only real inconvenience of applying to work at the clinic. A space to work, access to tools, and if she needed to perform surgery (not that she should have to given magic, but who could say when an injury would come in too exhaustive to treat), the option was there.

Well, she was ready.

"Send in the next patient..."

Yes, that's right. I am an exorcist by trade, though I regret to admit that much of my thaumaturgy abilities are not present with me here.

[He kind of misses his thaumaturgy abilities. While he's still unsure how to use his cognitive magic, his siphoning could be useful...]

Ah, I see. That would make sense. Where I am from, the local pharmacist also has a snake, and she tends to rest more often than not as well.

[When she wasn't sassing the customers, of course.]

Is that so? Eve will move on a warmer day, but the distance factor may be due to her nature as a familiar.

That is right. Although, I have been having a hard time trying to discern how to make Cognitive and Siphoning magic work against battling evil spirits...

[The siphoning can work in certain cases, but he's still learning.]

Hmm, perhaps... Then again, I am no expert in the nature of snakes. Only that their venom can be used in antidotes and in some exorcism spells.

Hmm... I wouldn't be able to tell you myself. If it was Death Magic, sure.

[But he was pretty far from it.]

Normal snakes are cold-blooded meaning they don't generate their own heat. Usually, they're not dangerous, but reactive to circumstance. Still, you do have your aggressive species as with most animals.

[He blinks in surprise at that. She had death magic..?]

I see... well, snakes do appear to be quite interesting creatures. One has to be foolish not to respect their potential danger.

That's correct. Now that we're here, animals may have their own magical properties depending so take caution if you venture outside of Camelot.

I hadn't even thought about that... I had been assuming them to be similar to the beasts and evil spirits I encounter back home...

Thank you for telling me this. I'll be sure to keep an eye out, and keep a closer eye on my familiar as well.

[He doesn't want Xue to be bitten by a magic snake!]

Perhaps some of them, but believe they're all similar to your world would be an error.

[She nods, satisfied with that answer.]

... I don't believe I heard of a doctor for familiars as it is.

There isn't? Huh... that could be harmful for familiars. Unless, they are capable of healing themselves?

[He looks to Xue, as if in confirmation, but the fox merely chitters and nuzzles into his hood. No straight answer from her, unfortunately.]

It's possible. It could be a matter of healing the individual they're connected to...

[Since they were connected and all, but she supposed it would be a matter of seeing what happens.]

Huh... this seems like a strange oversight. What if someone's familiar falls ill? Perhaps we should ask the locals here, or ask those who have been here longer than us?

[Or perhaps he's overthinking this?]

Possibly. It would be worth asking just so you know how to care for your familiar should a need ever come up.
