Busy August Catch-All
🧙 WHO: Harry, Rose, Hedwig, and You (with some closed threads)
⚔️️ WHAT: Work, Questing, and Training Other People
đź•’ WHEN: All of August
🗺️ WHERE: Various
⚠️ WARNINGS: Invasive Species deals with animal culling and possible Carcinuses violence; Will update this if anything else does come up
Cafe Work
(It’s another day at work as Harry is at work in the cafe, doing the usual barista duties as he has been doing for nearly a year now. He can’t bring Hedwig to work sadly since she came back to him but she does understand the dilemma and gives him a reassuring nod as he and Rose leave the studio flat for work.
As always, feel free to chat with him, ask him for menu recommendations, or annoy him all day if your character is in a mischievous mood.)
Invasive Species
(Harry is quite really freaked out when he arrives to the scene of disaster of the Carcinuses eating up many innocent and harmless animals in front of him. Their size have reminded him of how big Aragog was before the old Acromantula died from illness back in his Sixth Year. Seeing this horrifying feast in front of him, there is a part of him that is trying to tell that this has to be a bad idea. But Harry can’t stand seeing more innocent animals being Carcinuses lunch. His kinetic magic has become stronger each day with just some areas that need improving and he now has two elements on his side, so what was holding him back from trying to help?
He is hoping to not kill any Carcinuses as much as he can: he doesn’t like the sound of it at all. Needless to say, the young man turns to his companion and they start a strategy plan to send those giant crab-like creatures with scorpion tails back to the lake they came from and brings all the animals back to the forest.)
Okay, we need to find a way to send these giant scorpion crab things back to the lake and retrieve as many animals as we can and bring them back to the forest. But I don’t think killing those giant crab things will solve anything: I could try to levitate or teleport them back to the lake or round the animals to safety. What about you, do you have any suggestions for me to consider too?

Teleporting 101 (Closed to Ren/saxsongs)
At the Red Spring’s training ground, Harry has set up a makeshift training station from some old wooden crates and some big rocks; he also gathered many items of various shapes, sizes, weighs, and kinds either on top of the station or on the ground. Hedwig’s chilling on a nearby tree while Rose is taking a nap on the ground. Now let the lessons begins.)
Alright, listen very careful. Teleporting can be very taxing to one’s energy, especially if you try to push yourself too hard or you’re just starting out: I learned it the hard when I was teleporting a large group of people from a cave of Trows 2 months ago, even Rose, my familiar, got very tired as well. It’s very exhausting to say the least.

So it makes sense to start with smaller objects and work up from there. Is that the reason for the different items?
no subject
(And no, he is probably not telling him about the second time he underestimated the teleportation energy drain he had during his match with Ken in Celliwig. That’s another can of worms for another day.)
Okay, pay attention to this small pebble over here. (He picks up a small pebble from the station with his hand and shows it to Ren.) I’m going to teleport this pebble onto the other side and try to concentrate on that.
(Soon enough, he begins to think of its new location, begins to teleport it away, and it then shows up on the ground as intended. It remains in there for a while before Harry teleports it back into his hand.)
Ice Magic 101 (Closed to Akira/fooligans)
He decides to get Akira onboard in mastering it along with him, hoping that he can also learn some tricks along the way. At a small section of the forest away from most crowds, Harry waits patiently for his friend, sitting against a tree by the river while Hedwig and Rose get to play with each other. When Akira does approach the three, the English teenager gets up from the grounds and waves at him in greeting.)

[ From Akira's experience, it's better to practice one type of elemental magic at a time—getting too cocky is an easy recipe for a disaster. Feeling confident with his fire, water, and air magic, he has figured out that taking Harry up on his offer to practice ice magic together sounds like a good next step. ]
I can't believe we're going to break the ice again. [ He wouldn't be himself if he didn't start it with a joke, apparently. ] I've brought some food for us, too.
[ Practicing magic takes up a lot of energy, after all. ]
no subject
(He does chuckle at the ice joke bemusedly: sounds like a great start for the whole day ahead of them. He does hope that he’ll get better at ice magic by the time he gets his next element.)
Great thinking, Akira. I nearly forgot about bringing snacks along while coming here earlier.
no subject
[ Was he so hungry that he tried some berries growing here in the forest? Yes. Was it a tough experience? Also yes. ]
Okay, I'm all ears. Where do I even start with ice magic? I've tried a few times before, but no dice.
no subject
Just like with fire element, it does require to get your emotions in check. I am pretty amazed by the fact I was able to learn to get the hang of it while trying to survive electrified arrows, bombs, and light barriers during the last tourney in Celliwig.
no subject
[ Sounds like that might be the case, though. It might be easier to focus when you have to avoid damage from incoming attacks. ]
So what do you usually think of? Ice cream? Or something icier?
no subject
(Not to mention very annoyed by his ice magic as well, though he isn’t sure if it is safe for him to mention it.)
Usually the cold winters in Scotland: I really like winter back in my world and I often stayed at my school’s campus during the Christmas break a lot.
no subject
[ It's the second one ever since they've arrived here, if he can count ]
I have never been to a really cold place...maybe I should just think of my teachers' glares on my first day of school after moving to Tokyo.
[ Those surely were cold. ]
What did you do when you stayed over during Christmas break? Wasn't it lonely?
[ His guess is that not a lot of people did that in a boarding school. ]
no subject
(It is kinda similar to the Triwizard Tournament, minus people dying part, and he is still bummed out by Cedric’s untimely demise, even if it was years ago.)
Well, that could work as well. Try to project those stares onto a rock and try to freeze it.
No, I was not always alone: some of my friends do stay in there during the Christmas break as well: one time, one of my best mates stayed over in there instead of his home in Devon to keep me company and that was in our first year alone. Sometimes I would go over to his place and stay with his family as well.
no subject
That sounds like a great friend to have. Unless he was really tired of his family or something.
no subject
(Not to mention that he dated Ron’s sister, but Harry is still not sure if he should confide his shaky break up with Ginny to Akira just yet. Plus there were times that Ron did felt like a second fiddle by his own family treating Harry a little much like family which has made him feel guilty about it.
To be fair, he has come to realize how much it affected his best friend’s self esteem a lot, being the youngest son, after Ron left him and Hermione temporarily: he does feel the guilt of letting Molly spoil him so much that she almost left out her own flesh and blood.)
They are a lot like family to me: treated me as if I was one of them despite not being related to them by blood.

Cafe Work
Um, sir! Could I have a table away from windows? [ Beat. ] Am I allowed to order a coffee, too?
[ The young teen, who quite frankly looked to be a year or so off from the 'tween' years, already looked a little overcaffeinated, if one had to guess. ]
no subject
(He is more than happy to be of help as he checks in the young lady.)
So, what kind of coffee do you want to order from the menu?
no subject
What kinds are there? Are any of them a little sweet? I had sweet coffee once and it was really nice. And coffee is used in tiramisu!
[ She seemed pretty proud of herself for remembering that last little factoid. ]
no subject
Oh yeah, that’s really good to know. I did try the tiramisu out a few weeks ago during my day off and it’s pretty good as well.
no subject
Back home the adults said I wouldn't like tiramisu because it's an adult sweet, but I like it more than normal cake. It tastes more... [ She paused, looking thoughtful... ] More like the concept of dirt, but tasty. [ She said this like it made any sense. ]
no subject
(It didn’t took him too long to get it ready for the young lady and he comes back with the order in question and passes it to her.)
Here you go. Hm, that’s pretty interesting.
no subject
Thank you.
[ Then she paused. ]
What's pretty interesting?
no subject
(Trust him, there were plenty of people in his world who had doubts about him for a good amount of time.)
no subject
I don't think they thought it wouldn't be good for me, just that I wouldn't like it. Well, I guess one person told me that I'd remain short forever if I ate things with that much caffeine, but I don't see how eating something is going to make me any shorter than I already am. I mean I think this may just be as tall as I'm going to get?
[ She then took a sip of the drink, instantly letting free a pleased sound. ]
Thank you! This tastes very good.

Oh by the way, my name is Harry, I have been working for this very cafe since last November. What about you, Miss?
