She looked at the poor snowman and made a gesture to pet it, but stopped midway— Where... Would you even pet a snowman? Was it even right to do it? And wouldn't her hand freeze? Thus she slowly withdrew her hand.
"I know! Nine-tailed foxes are said to be able to see and hear anything that's happening in the world...!" Well, she didn't think it'd be able to do that here, but so long as it could at least see their surroundings— "We can ask my familiar to find a fridge or fan nearby!"
Upon hearing that, the pink nine-tailed fox who'd been napping on a chair opened his eyes and stared at the melting snowman with a cold and indifferent gaze. To help him and stop napping, or to not help him and continue napping? That question seemed to be at the center of the nine-tailed fox's mind right now.

At the same time, all Ken could do was sigh. "I don't see why not! I think anything is worth a try!" He said before patting his familiar on the head. In the back of his mind, all the boy could do was shake his head at how much of a kid Jack Frost was being.
However, as he looked at the pink familiar, he raised an eyebrow or two. Was he going to help out or not?
no subject
"Pet me, mortal."
Monika's eyes widened as she heard her familiar speak. Wait, what?
"... You can talk?"
That was news to her, apparently.
no subject
He asked before looking back at Monika. "But sometimes familiars can talk. I just wasn't expecting yours to be uh..." He scratched the side of his face before looking at the other direction. How can he say this without sounding rude?
"Forward."
no subject
It was probably a very striking image. Such a cute and small pink nine-tailed fox... Speaking with such a deep and grave voice. It was as if a furby suddenly started talking like Darth Vader.
"Forward? You mean rude! I've tried talking to him and he's never replied..."
The fox didn't care. He waited for his petting.
no subject
"Well, at least it's a cute looking familiar? You can't deny that, right?"
He said hoping to lighten the mood! While his gaze was still fixed on the creature, he didn't say anything to him but he wasn't sure if this was what the fox wanted. Or was there was specific way he wanted to be petted?
no subject
"You will find a small fridge in any room of this hotel."
She was now glaring daggers at her familiar. All that for that? Really? To think she had spent all morning petting him! Well he would have to regain a lot of goodwill to ever get a pet from her. Regardless, she turned to Ken and his Jack Frost.
"... Well, I guess we can go to my room then. I'm sorry, I haven't paid much attention to it or I would have offered that earlier."
no subject
"No, it's okay! You have a lot to think about so I don't mind!"
He said before attempting to grab Jack Frost's hand. In response, the poor snowman was starting to cry tears of joy.
"Hi-oh!" The familiar shouted in an attempt to express his gratitude before attempting to hug the girl. What will she do now?
no subject
"Let's go to my room, alright?"
She nodded at Ken and turned towards the stairs. Was she doing that to spite her familiar? Or because the Jack Frost was just oh-so adorable? Nobody would have the answer. The one certainty was that after giving them all a pretty cold glare, the nine-tailed fox walked out of the hotel with nary a word.
no subject
"Sounds good to me. Let's go!"
As Ken followed her, he looked back to see the glare between Monika and the fox. Should he say something? He wasn't sure but it couldn't hurt to ask right?
"I'm guessing your familiar doesn't like you petting Jack Frost, does he?"
no subject
"Well that's too bad for him." She sighed. "I've petted him non-stop since arriving here, but he's never talked to me once. And then when we need his help, he demands to be pet simply for telling us to go to my room?"
Familiars were more like people than pet, she'd understood that much. And it made hers all the worse. As a person, he could only be called an an exploitative jerk. Still, when they reach her room, she lets go of the Jack Frost's hand while looking for her keys and opening it. The room is very basic. She's only been there for a few days at this point, so she's not made any changes to it yet.
"Alright so um, there should be a small fridge in here..."
no subject
"I'll tail you? It sounds like something he'll regret?" He said before looking toward the ground. Puns usually make people laugh, right? Regardless, he too gave a sigh before shaking his head. Somewhere, in the back of his mind, he couldn't believe he was starting to make more puns...
Once they reached her room, Jack Frost was in desperate search for the fridge. That's why he wasted no time in rushing in without a second thought!
no subject
"Most definitely~! Guess I'm going to give him the cold shoulder till he apologizes."
Yep, trying to get started on puns with Monika is a bad idea. And, oh dear. The poor little snowman was really desperate, huh... She gave a quick look around and finally found it. Turned out her nightstand was the small fridge. Huh. She immediately went to open it.
"Here it is!"
no subject
"Now that's quite the frozen heart you've got?" Again, he was wondering what he was doing at this point. He didn't have to think about it for long as he saw his familiar looking at the fridge. Without another thought, Jack Frost immediately opened the appliance and went straight in!
Or at least his attempt to get in as his arms and legs were sticking out. Whoops.
no subject
Well, his arms and legs were sticking out, but at least he was no longer melting, right? Monika moved to try and help him fit in the fridge... Man, hopefully the poor little thing wasn't claustrophobic.
"I think we've solved the problem momentarily. But, um..." Awkward laughter. "Unless it plans to inhabit my fridge till autumn, your poor little snowman is gonna have a real bad time those next two months..."
no subject
Ken knows that he shouldn't be rude but with all of these puns, he couldn't help but wince a little. Somewhere, he knew that a certain friend of his would be making fun at all of these jokes he was making.
Once again, he didn't have to think about it for long as he stared at the poor snowman. Giving another sigh, he shook his head. "I think he'll be fine, he just wants someone to pay attention to him for a few minutes."
Meanwhile Jack Frost was waving to both Monika and Ken as if he was saying hello!
no subject
That wasn't lying either. That was the last one that'd come to mind. The next step was for her to become Arnold Schwarzenegger from that awful Batman movie. And she wasn't ready to go down that road.
"He's adorable." She waved back at him. "If ever you want a nine-tailed fox, I'm happy to trade, ahaha~!"
It was said on the tone of a joke— Of course you couldn't trade your familiars. Yet... If that was possible? Within the blink of an eye.
no subject
"Snow way."
Again, he wasn't sure if he should be proud that he was coming up with all these quips. Regardless, he looked back at his snowman before leaning down at him. As he gave a him a look, all Jack Frost could do was give an innocent smile.
"I don't know about that. Jack Frost is a pretty difficult familiar to handle!"
no subject
Sometimes, you had to admit defeat. But just because he'd won a battle didn't mean he had won the war! She was really good with puns. She just needed... A topic that inspired her more than ice.
"Is he? But he looks adorable..!" Well, she knew adorable didn't always mean nice... She was, after all, a murderer in a manner of speaking. One who regretted her sins, but nonetheless... "You know, when I get my hands back on my fox... We should do like, a trade for one day! Then we compare note to see which of the two is the most insufferable familiar."
no subject
With that, Jack Frost shook his head before giving a boo at his partner! He knew that Ken could do much better than that! In response, Ken gave his familiar another look before giving another sigh.
"You see what I mean? It feels like I'm with a toddler sometimes." Although, he couldn't argue that the snowman wasn't a bad partner. As he looked at Monika and then back at the fox, a small pout appeared on his face.
"You sure? You really don't know what you're dealing with!"
no subject
There were only so many puns you could do before everything would melt into a sad puddle of words.
"He can't be worse than my fox!" She had very strong feelings about this. She raised a finger. "Did you know nine-tailed foxes are supposed to be over 1000 years old? They start out as regular foxes and gain an additional tail upon turning 100 years old. Then every 130 years or so they gain an additional tail, only to ascend upon gaining their ninth tail. Well, mine is sure not showing his maturity."
She sighed.
"I'd rather be dealing with someone truly immature rather than with someone who's supposed to be super wise but then abuse of their status to be immature, you know."
no subject
Yes, he was annoyed that he couldn't keep the pun storm going.
However, as he listened to Monika, he just raised an eyebrow. "I see. I was aware that foxes were wise but I didn't realize that's how they got their ninth tail. I suppose that does explain a lot!" Although, he couldn't help but eye her familiar before crossing his arms.
"I suppose the fox is just as immature as Jack Frost right?" Just saying!
no subject
Sorry not sorry, she wasn't going to go easy on that fox of hers. Speaking of which, he had returned and was now sleeping on her bed. To be specific, on her pillow. Thankfully, Monika hadn't noticed. It might be for the best not to tell her, it could have disastrous consequences....
"Mmm, I can't keep you in my room all day, you must have stuff to do..." Ken had been on his way to do something before being interrupted by her, after all. "I'm going to fill a bag with ice cubes. That should tide your little snowman over till you find him a good place."
She went to pick a plastic bag and off to her mini-fridge: which was still occupied by Jack Frost. She smiled sweetly at him.
"Do you mind moving?"
no subject
Although, he can't blame Monika for saying that after how her familiar was acting. Crossing his arms, he looked back at the fox and then back at Jack Frost. For a moment, he wondered if he should allow the snowman to spend some time with the teenager if she truly enjoyed his company that much. On the other hand, he definitely had somewhere needed to be.
At the same time, the snowman kept on giggling before shifting a little to the side. "Hee Oh!" He shouted as he gave enough space where she could get the ice from the corner of the fridge.
Hopefully she might be able to get it?
no subject
"That won't last long but that should let him survive till you get, huh, wherever you need to be, ahaha!"
