Mossatees and alpacapies
🧙 WHO: Jean Kirstein & You
⚔️️ WHAT: July Catch-all
🕒 WHEN: July
🗺️ WHERE: Beach, Camelot
⚠️ WARNINGS: Will note if needed
Rescuing baby mossatees
[Jean is often on the beach at the start of the month. He is keeping an eye on baby mossatees and guiding them back into the water by rolling them.]
Come on now, back to the water with you.
[It's almost like the baby mossatee would giggle on the way back, especially if you can hear them with animal magic. Jean shakes his head with a soft smile.
Upon his head is a light blue verbena that has been there for a while now. He could pluck it, but at least it tells other momma mossatees he's had the spell cast on him before.
Jean looks over to someone walking on the shore as well.]
Are you here to help the mossatees too?
Turning into a mossatee
[Mossatees are from the bigger end of the animals Jean has attempted to turn into. Still, he had come this far so he was going to try and turn into a mossatee to learn the spell the mothers of the babies were offering.
When he eventually gets it, he needs to take a small rest in the form. So now there's an adult mossatee stuck in the sand...? At least that's what it must look like to someone else.]
Surf New Turf
[While the mossatees are already a familiar animal, Jean is interested in learning about new species. For now he's mostly chatting with the alpacapies who are surprisingly chatty.]
So you're really good at spotting and hiding from the camera, huh? Are you all camera shy?
[Not that he wanted to take their pictures, but he was mostly curious. Apparently they just liked baiting people into trying to take images and dash their dreams though. At least these particular ones.]
Quite devious of you.
Wildcard
Getting chased by cleaning supplies? Walking around in the carnival?

Quest / Spotted Dicklivery / Closed to Mukuro
In a way, he also wanted to prove that he was fine now, after last months kidnapping stuff. That he could go out and be further away from Camelot without a problem and without the need to hide behind Mikasa. It was silly, but it would help with his self-esteem to do this.
He also got a chance to travel with a friend. Mukuro was a great friend and he could trust her.]
I think it's just behind that hill. [Which is a tall one.] Want to camp here and go in the morning? That way we can just leave the package and start out journey back.
no subject
That makes sense- here's a pretty sheltered location.
[She needed to ask him how he was doing after the whole kidnapping thing, but that could wait until they'd found somewhere to settle.]
no subject
Need some water? [He asks as he grabs a bottle for himself.]
no subject
[She'll drop her backpack down too, having a quick glance around the area for any sign of tracks or animal activity nearby- the last thing they needed was for wild animals to raid their camp.]
...Been a while since I've done something like this.
no subject
Same. I can't remember the last time I even set up a tent.
no subject
[No trouble with that catch, and taking the chance to take some precious gulps of water.]
no subject
[He also drinks some of the water before starting to unpack the tent.]
no subject
[She finishes her initial scope of the area, putting the bottle aside for the moment.]
Looks relatively clear...good.
no subject
[For obvious reasons.]
I don't think I've seen anything weird these past few miles. It's kind of eerie in a way.
no subject
...Something isn't right, here.
no subject
[Jean looks around a little bit more, getting up from where he was and looking behind some nearby bushes to see any signs of life and not seeing a single small animal.]
Do you think we should continue after all so we can get a headstart in going back? Or do we risk whatever is going on here and keep watch during night?
no subject
no subject
That sounds like a solid plan. Best be prepared for anything.
no subject
[With that, she started to take a look around. No sign of animal tracks- no, the whole place was strangely quiet. That was reason enough to be concerned.
...There was a cave not too far ahead along the path. Come to think of it, that would be more sheltered than a camp out here, right? She beckoned Jean over to take a look.]
surf new terf
Near Jean, a baby mossatee comes flying through the air and plunks right back into the water about 5 feet from him and the alpacapie he's speaking to. Emerald just chunked it back from the dry land. ]
If they're going to be doing that the whole time, there's no way their parents are going to get anywhere in the whole next month!
no subject
Well, that was refreshing at least. [It had been a hot day so he doesn't really mind.] You would think they'd learn their lesson after a few times, but instead I hear some of them say "again again" when they climb back to shore. It's like it's a game.
no subject
[ She comes into the water after that, since that was the last one near them for now. She doesn't see the baby come back up, but they're underwater creatures so it's really hard to tell where it's gone once it's back in. ]
I guess they're better at wiggling up there when they're small, so they're trying to get it in before they're too big to get rolled back into the water.
no subject
[If you didn't count people who turned into mossatees. He was stuck on the shore once.]
How have you been?
no subject
[ That's a tough question. She got canon updated and since then she's kind of felt like she's been in a funk. Like she made a huge life decision and then got booted here so now she won't find out if it was the right or wrong decision for a very, very long time. ]
It's complicated. You?
no subject
Better than last month, at least. No new kidnappings and I've managed to actually be useful with my magic for once.
no subject
[ This place was ridiculous. ]
What do you mean useful with it? It's not like we have to do anything besides use it.
no subject
[At least with recent things.]
Why wouldn't I want to be useful with magic? It helps with day to day life if done right.
rescuing baby mossatees
Howdy! ( He greets a bit tentatively. )
... I didn't know they needed help, but... I-I'd like to try, if it's okay.. Are you helping them back in the water?
no subject
Yeah. They keep climbing to the shore and then can't get themselves back down. All you need to do is roll them... it's pretty easy.
no subject
( He crouches down a bit, as if to get a closer look. )
They're so small. They really don't mind being rolled like that...?
no subject
[He's probably rolled the same mossatee several times.]
Give it a try. You don't need be scared of using force a little. They can take it.
no subject
Oh -- there! ( He watches them for a moment. ) Awww, hehehe... there you go.
They seem happier to be in the water.
no subject
It's where they belong. Also you received a "thank you" from the baby, just so you know.
no subject
( Asriel watches as they swim away, a fond smile on his face. )

Rescue
Yeah... but I think they're enjoying it more than anything else.
no subject
no subject
Yeah... same here.
[Not that he had much experience watching over other kids, but he vaguely remembered begging his dad to repeat fun things over and over when he was younger.]
It's kinda cute... the first fifteen or so times.
[Though, this was going to get tiring after a while, Keith was sure of it.]
no subject
[Jean huffs a little. The little ones aren't as light as they think they are...]
no subject
Yeah... I can see that. [Keith stretched his arms over his head.] I wonder if I could use my elemental magic to push them out faster...
