Thrawn puts a hand to his chin as he examines her work in progress even closer, standing right next to her. For someone who claims to be rusty, she clearly has talent and has developed her craft quite a lot. If only he had more of her work to use for comparison.

"I have a certain appreciation for artwork," Thrawn states. "Even if you claim that this is not your best work, I can still see talent and skill in this."

This is also enough to give him a general idea of how she might fight, were they to ever clash or even spar. Thrawn can't help but notice such things.
