[It was as Caster watched the smoke rising that she saw something headed her way, and her familiar's growl confirmed her suspicions. Someone was coming for her.
Without hesitation, she grabbed one of the enchanted dragon fangs and drove it deep into her chest.
A deep purple energy consumed her familiar, magical flames sinking into her body and transforming her body from the inside- burning through her as the fire awoke in her eyes, in the hollow of her chest as it shifted to bone- And then the skeletal wings and tail burst out of her back, bones of her spine visible underneath her cloak.
