"Earlier than that, actually. And I think I remember hearing that there might have been an oral tradition before it was ever written down."

She remembers the european history better than she remembers the lore, but she has a good memory for this sort of thing.

"I don't know about 'good'. Did you ever read The Once and Future King? Arthur was kind of an asshole in that one. And Merlin wasn't much help either, though you can't expect much from a guy that turns kids into fish."
