[It is simple enough to follow the man upstairs. One set of fingers spread against the nearby wall, keeping himself balanced as he makes his way in darkness. People pass on the way, heading downstairs for liquor or a dance in crowded surroundings. An eager hand tugs his shoulder to come and join but he waves the lady away and makes his answer bland and unremarkable: enough he is left alone. After a few moments, he returns to investigating his surroundings.
The nature of the quest keeps him silent as he climbs onto the landing, away from the crowd and its noise and nonsense. It might be he's a short distance beside his companion - or it could be he's a good deal further back. It is hard to tell without lights and the sounds of conversation. But at least they have a similiar idea as to each other's destination. A bedroom, because the centre of such a curse is unlikely to be found in a store cupboard, is it now? He slips inside the nearest he can find and begins rummaging around.
Perhaps he needs to switch on the light. But that wouldn't be wise.]
