🕒 WHEN: April 14
🗺️ WHERE: Phoenix Roost
⚠️ WARNINGS: None

As a resident of Avalon, you are cordially invited to the birthday celebration for Aimono Jyushi. The party is a surprise which will take place at the Phoenix Roost on April 14 at 8:30 PM. There is no need for gifts or payment. Our guest of honor is new to the city and the intention is simply to host a fun event to meet new people.
Please direct any and all questions to Amaguni Hitoya, organizer of the event.

A party of any sizable reputation takes a considerable amount of work to put together. Even more so on such short notice. There's decorations to hang. Food to prepare. A cake to bake. Sound systems and lighting to check. Balloon animals to balloon. In the hours between closing for the public and the start of their surprise party, the phoenix roost is a buzz of activity to transform it into something to properly welcome and celebrate the life of Avalon's newest MC.
Guest will find plenty of sustenance to sustain them through the night. The party menu leans heavy towards the Italian influences with bright red Napolitan pasta, and squid ink pescatore, aracini and caprese crowding the table. Much of the food has been seasoned with a touch of the macabre like the candy apples that appear to be dripping blood. Beverages for evening range from sweet cream sodas to mature wines and liquor to appease a diverse crowd, with all the usual enchantments necessary for such drinks. And of course sitting at the center of it all is the eponymous cake.
Jyushi is a musician so it's only right that they pay homage to that calling on his birthday. The stage is set for karaoke where you'll have your choice of music and lighting to accompany your performance. Need an instrument? There's even a few of those on loan too. Out of respect for the venue and all attendees, please just stick to the provided microphone instead of any you may be carrying with you. We'd rather not check them at the door.
Party planners were really feeling enthusiastic so attendees will find a few social activities set up around the hall. If the conversation is growing stale, try grabbing one of the equally stale fortune cookies lying around. They won't promise you riches or future love in your life they will prompt you with a random ice breaker idea.
There's an adaptation of Fukuwarai set up against one wall except the usual face has been replaced with the image of a cartoonish pig. Grab a partner, don the blindfold and have fun trying to attach her button eyes, floppy ears, and little jester cap.
Finally about halfway through the night, someone who has probably dipped a little too deep into the boozy drinks drags a bunch of chairs out from the table and arranges them in a circle. It's time for CRB (that's Chair Rap Battle for the uninitiated or if you come from a normal world--Musical Chairs). Everyone who's playing should pick a chair. Everyone who's not? Congrats one of you has been chosen at random to start the rap roundabout. Luckily there's no time limit on how long to go. Once stopped, with everyone in a seat, the odd man out is responsible for leading the next round with their sick freestyling.

Jyushi had been surprised when he realized his birthday was coming so close after coming to a fantasy land that you thought only happened in mangas and stuff. But here he was, in Avalon and apparently a year older. It kind of felt like cheating but technically he was 19 now.
And when he walks in to see the party, to see how all of this has come together simply for his birthday, it doesn’t feel important at all whether he cheated the system to age another year. Not when he’s faced with the biggest party he’s ever had thrown for him. And with a bunch of people he doesn’t know? And are technically enemies but not only is Avalon new to him but so is the whole division battle thing too. But right now, that seems so far away. It’s overwhelming. In all the best and worst ways but he thinks the good is outweighing the bad.
Hitoya had told him to perform and Jyushi always feels nervous about it every time even if he’s definitely performed more than enough. But usually he has more time to prep and he has his band to back him up. But right now, all he has is a karaoke track, his guitar, and his own talent. With a deep breath, he goes up to perform with all his usual visual kei flair.
"Hello, esteemed guests! Thank you all for coming to this bon anniversaire! Allow me to perform for this auspicious day. A song that is all about sharing joys…!"
When the song begins, it shows off Jyushi’s normal voice in an uplifting ballad before it turns into something much more metal. Throughout it, it changes gears. Sometimes light and happy but then back to hard and loud. It’s jarring but it’s jarring in the same ways that Jyushi is going between his two personalities. It’s a fitting song for him to be singing as an introduction of sorts.
Once he finishes, with one more dramatic thanks for listening, he’s coming off the stage, heart pumping because he did it! He sang in front of all these people and in this new world…! He’s really happy!

A pleasure. [He bows to Rosho before putting an arm out in flourish.] I am the vocalist of dusk and romance, Aimono Jyushi...! Importantly, with my Master Kuko and the hero of the weak Hitoya, I am from the Nagoya division.
[It might be easier to go along with this but also how long can one even keep up with this? Jyushi can stay in this act all night.]
no subject
He's also that guy who refused to do yoga in public AND wouldn't listen to Rosho as he tried to lecture some sense into him. That guy, with the pompadour and the biker jacket, that rudeass guy......... he's being praised?? ]
That lazy bōsōzoku looking guy... is a hero...?
no subject
Trust me, you will never meet a greater man. All that he has done for me? My soul is forever in his debt. Do not be swayed about outside appearance. All may not be as it seems...! Everybody has their own self, their own hidden depths. Look deeper into the ocean of a person!
[If Rosho leaves this conversation without a headache? It'll be a miracle.]
no subject
Regardless of what Rosho's opinion is of Hitoya, even with all the flower-y purple prose going on here, it really sounds like he's... genuinely a good person. And it's that final line that gets to Rosho the most. It's always to look deeper into a person. Outside appearances can be deceptive, and if you try, you can meet someone truly wonderful.
Isn't that what it was like for his team? ]
You could've explained that all a lot more simply. [ Stated matter-of-factly. ] But, for someone that just got here, if he put all this effort to make sure you had the kind of celebration you deserve on your birthday... he's got a good heart, it seems.

One day.]
But you are correct about Hitoya! He has touched my heart on many occasions and this one has been added onto the long list that is our history. One day, I would like to do the same for him but it would even be one-tenth of what he has done for me. It is my duty, though, to pay it forward as one would say! But it makes me happy to know that you can see that of him.
[Hitoya's done a lot for him, it's true. He isn't even sure that he could ever really do anything in return for him that would ever measure up but it does make him happy to know that Rosho understands that Hitoya is a good person...even if he knows Hitoya doesn't care so much about that. But people should know of his merits!!]
Now, pray tell, citizen of Osaka, what is your origines? How long have you found yourself in this world of faeries? [You know, how long have you been here?]
no subject
Ah... I see.
[ That's all he can really say at this point. He might have judged Hitoya too harshly at the beginning, and sure these might be embellishments, but he also has a feeling Jyushi is being honest here. Well, he'll just have to wait and see just what this team is really like, and maybe have a bit more patience with its oldest member. ]
—oh, here in this place? Um... it feels a lot longer than its probably been. Just a few months? I think it was around December or January when I got here. So that's only about 3 or 4 months. I'd say you get used to it but things always tend to happen that catch you off guard. It's a little easier if you're not alone at least, so it's a good thing you had a teammate here already.

The grains of sand in the glass fall at the same pace as they always do but despite it all, the mind is not like that. Things can always appear inconsistent...! Especially like you said. But the wiles of the faeries...? [He laughs, flipping at his bangs.] Yes, they play with us. We are their pawns! [With flourish, he puts his hand out...
And into a plate of pasta somebody left behind. This kind of breaks his very Cool Act and his voice breaks, betraying its normal, childish tone.] A-ah...[He quickly tries to go back.] Haha, like...like that! The faeries playing games there! [But now he's pouting as he tries to find a napkin to clean off his hand with. Ew :(]
no subject
Ah, there it is. You're showing your age now, Jyushi. Rosho could easily laugh at him but instead he sighs heavily. ]
No, that right there was clearly your fault.
[ He pulls out a napkin from his pocket, not like he'd kept a spare because he got one too many desserts on a plate earlier...! ]
I get that it's your birthday and you probably want to be a little bit flashy, but it's not necessary. Here. [ He hands over the napkin. ]
Don't get your outfit dirty, it's really nice.
no subject
Luckily for Rosho, he manages not to cry and quickly stops it from happening. While Rosho is blunt, not holding back, Jyushi feels a little more okay dropping his persona around him.] T-thank you...
For um, the napkin and the compliment. But also for coming to the party. I'm not trying to be flashy. It's just part of myself...
[But at least he's way more understandable like this.]
no subject
Really, I should thank you for being a really good host. For someone that's celebrating a birthday in a place they barely know you've done really well at being welcoming. How old did you turn, if I can ask?
no subject
Nineteen. It seems kind of like cheating, though. It feels like I sort of skipped eighteen...
no subject
Well, it's like they say, you're only ever as old as you feel. Ultimately it's just a number. But nineteen is an important one, isn't it? Congratulations.
[ He hopes this is at least an enjoyable birthday for him and is a good distraction from, you know, everything going on. Not being in his own homeworld and away from his family. ]
You've definitely done a lot of growing though. Technically I'm twenty-seven now, but you even tower over me. That's impressive!
[ He wonders if Jyushi might even be Rei's height? Kids grow so huge nowadays... ]
no subject
Jyushi's trying to be as mature as he can be, especially now that he's apparently been brought here to help save the world?! He always wanted to be a hero but not like this!!]
I've always been tall. Even when I was younger I was taller than a lot of adults. [He was taller than Hitoya even though he always felt smaller next to him. And still kind of does.] But I guess age isn't about height either then! How big you are is in the heart or something like that, right?
[He can say cool things too!]
no subject
You can have that sort of outlook about anything, really. That's what I think most things should come down to at least.
[ It's all about what's in your heart. He's glad to hear that sort of talk from others especially around Jyushi's age. It's good to keep optimistic about things. ]
Are you still adjusting to being here? I know you have Hitoya to help you, but you're welcome to ask me about anything. To be honest, it sounds a little weird, but I've actually gone through this before. Ending up in a different world I mean. It's not really common but you might hear others mention that sort of thing.
no subject
And now, as he talks to Rosho, he's happy to know that there's someone as nice as him.]
Another world...? Like...you've gone to another world? [That's possible???]
no subject
[ Just talking about this sort of thing always feels weird to him, but seeing as he's lived it for real, he hopes he's at least being relatively convincing. I mean, when you end up in another world, it doesn't seem too far-fetched to hear that such a thing is possible on more than one occasion. ]
The place I was in was called Prismatica. It was a big city, kinda futuristic, like an even more upgraded and technologically advanced version of Tokyo? If you could even imagine something like that. Actually my team leader, Sasara, he was there with me too. We spent almost a year in that place and then all of a sudden we ended up here instead.
no subject
But apparently, it wasn't that weird at all to be transported to a different world. Rosho's on his third...]
T-that can just happen? [It already had but Jyushi really thought this would only happen once.]
no subject
Apparently so. I don't think I'll ever figure out a how or a why, it just... happens. But it sorta helps to know its happened to other people. Like, it makes what happened to you feel more real. And, really, I'm sort of lucky. Sometimes people go from one world to the other, but you might not remember anything from the last place you were in. Sasara and I, we still have our memories from being in Prismatica.
no subject
So I could have been in another world and I just don't remember? That's so much...
[He's overthinking this now.]
no subject
I-I'm sorry, I didn't mean to make you worry about it! If you can't think of anything in regards to memories like that, then, then there shouldn't be a problem! You should be okay, I'm sure!
[ Good job Rosho you've ruined his birthday. ]
no subject
[Don't worry, it takes more than this to ruin his day. Right now he's mostly very confused and just thinking about this too much.]
