1. RUN SNAGGLEFOOT RUN (QUEST)

[Apprehending thieves is nothing new to Claude, even if he's more accustomed to battling dangerous, heavily-armed bandits than just chasing down someone harmless yet sticky-fingered. Somehow the latter is proving much more elusive, however, and he's chased his target all the way from Camelot on horseback to try and catch up to him before he can make his escape.

Initially he'd managed to hit the thief with a curse to try and slow him down, but Snagglefoot managed to give him the slip when his curse wasn't quite what he wanted: hitting him with a binding curse only managed to immobilise one of his arms rather than his full body.

By the time Claude dismounts his horse at the springs and runs after him, he realises someone has already beaten him to the punch and -- intentionally or otherwise -- is blocking the doorway to the inn the thief had just tried to flee inside. Claude puffs, out of breath, hands on his knees.]

Grab that guy for me... would you...?

[If they hesitate for even a second, the thief might just get away again.]

2. LIBRARY

[Claude's not thrilled about being hurled into another world, what with everything resting on his shoulders at home, but it's also not the first time he's had to adjust quickly to a completely new land. His reaction in this case is to handle things just the same as he first did in Fodlan: get as much information and then some, as quickly as possible, so he can make up for any disadvantage he has in knowledge.

... Maybe he's overdoing it a little, though. It's getting close to closing hours in one of Camelot's libraries, and he still has a huge pile of unfinished books on the reading desk he's seated at, covering subjects as broad as history, magic, flora and fauna, geography, and more.

He yawns, and his familiar, a small cat-sized white wyvern, headbutts his arm -- either for attention, or just to make sure he stays awake. He pets her absently.]

We'll leave soon, just let me finish this chapter first. [He stifles another yawn. He should call it here, but he's also dreading the idea of lugging lots of heavy books back to his room.]

3. BROCELIANDE

[For anyone who might be wandering in the Broceliande, you might hear a voice complaining and cursing through the trees. Follow it to its source and you'll find Claude, who seems to be... kneeling by a stream and... crying? At the very least, there's tears streaming town his cheeks, but on a closer examination he looks more exasperated than upset.]

Ouch ouch ouch...

[He splashes his face with water to try and rinse his stinging eyes, his wyvern keeping a lookout as he does so.]

Owww. I knew I should've left that flower alone. [The wyvern trills in what sounds like agreement, or maybe because she just spotted someone approaching. Hello friend!!]

Not at all! Chocobos can be fiercely loyal and protective. Many soldiers and adventurers train their birds to help them in battle. My own Rosepetal could lay a coeurl flat in a single kick!

[ Bringing up her own chocobo is a bit of a bittersweet thing. She does wish Rosepetal could be here with her, but in the end she knows it’s better that her dear bird is back home. Blaze can’t very well keep a Roegadyn-sized chocobo around while she’s living out of an inn room. ]

[It's about as much as she can do, and will it be enough? She has no idea...

It's a little awkward at first, how she kneels and scoots up in front of him, and then raises her hand so that it's only inches from his face. Honestly? She's not really sure how to do it, or if she even needs to have her hand there, but... better safe than sorry? Feels a bit strange, but...

Lightning's expression tightens ever so slightly while she focuses on trying to get a spell to work... but when nothing comes, she stares between her fingers at Claude, as if this is his fault.]

... Keep your eyes closed.

[At least this person isn't an idiot, Set thinks. He doesn't mind handling the thief either although the man is still shaking in his grip.]

If you try to escape then I will kill you. Keep that in mind.

[That isn't helping the shaking any but Set puts away his sword. Looking at Claude, he nods ahead.]

You should stand in front. If he does try to get away then one way is blocked.

Any treat? Hmm. I'll admit that I'm not much of a picky eater, but when I was a little girl, there was a bakery in Enbarr that I would often pass by, and I loved staring at the beautiful displays in the windows. They had tiered cakes that seemed a mile high to me at that age, and tarts topped with beautifully-arranged slices of fruit that looked like stained-glass windows. Manuela bought one of them for me when I got into the Mittelfrank, and I've loved that sort of treat ever since then.

[ A warm, fond look crosses her face as she thinks back to one of the happier moments from her childhood, sharing a custardy slice of fruit tart with a woman who might as well have been the Goddess herself to a formerly-impoverished orphan. ]

In general, I like fruity desserts best. The peach sorbet that they used to make at Garreg Mach was wonderful. As for your little pastry, I bet we could find some here if we looked hard enough. I'll help you find it, so I can try some myself.

Oh-- uh, okay?

[He didn't do anything wrong!!! But he's taken aback enough that he doesn't argue, closing his eyes and staying put while she attempts to heal him.

Now she just has a pair of golden wyvern eyes blinking up at her, as his familiar is now staring at her. No pressure.]

[He has to wonder if that bakery is still there, or whether it was destroyed in the fighting on Enbarr's streets. Granted, they intentionally tried to keep the fighting away from the opera house for Manuela and Dorothea's sakes, but that's not to say the surrounding structures escaped intact.

Best not to think too deeply about it right now.]

Sounds like a deal. And if we find anywhere that sells your sorbets, I'll let you know. You can do a taste test to see if they match up to Garreg Mach's.

[He grins.] Good idea. Let's see...

[He moves over to the floor plan, with the exaggerated bearing of someone going over a military strategy:]

On a cursory glance, it seems this set of shelves create a blind spot in that corner. There are some study rooms here, although it might be a problem if we get locked into those for the night... What about hiding in the restroom until the coast is clear?

Or he can attack me from behind?

[Claude's just whining at this point, it's unlikely the thief will get away. Still, he goes out in front at a healthy distance, so he at least has some forewarning and time to react if Snagglefoot were to suddenly run at him.]

[He nods, still breathless, but his grip on the thief is firm. Likewise, Snagglefoot isn't making much progress struggling against the ropes.]

Thanks for the save. If he'd given me the slip, we could've been playing cat and mouse all day, at that rate.

[Claude is safe and really, even Set doesn't have his usual strength, he's still impressively strong right now for a human body.]

I'll warn you if he does but a thief is an idiot anyway.

The restrooms are cleaned every hour during opening hours, but I don't know about after hours. ( if he had to hazard a guess, he'd say they were the last? just in case any of the remaining staff needs to use them. ) If we choose a toilet, we could safeguard it with magic.

( she has to wonder how long this will hold that guy, given that she's seen him running about, ripe for the catching, more than once this month. )

Think he likes it. ( she looks down at an all too familiar face to punctuate her sentence, a wordless don't'cha? that comes with the raise of her brows. ) Not his first time.

Actually, scratch that. If we're trying to lock ourselves in there, that's absolutely going to backfire. [Give him a minute while he racks his brains for a scheme that isn't completely stupid.......]

I can't say I've tried before, but it's part of cognitive magic. ( he shrugs. that's the part that's like Actualisation, and though Azathoth isn't here to bolster it and make it work, the similarities are enough that he thinks it should work.

no different to what he did with Yoshizawa-san, really.
