[Snagglefoot Miffen is the name of the thief that has snatched up some precious gems from a local jewelry shop in Camelot. And if there is one thing that Izuku can’t tolerate as a student studying to be a hero? It’s crime, of course! When he had seen the task, he had signed up right away. Being away from his homeworld and his school hasn’t taken anything away from Izuku’s determination to be a hero and to help out whenever he can.

But this thief is chalking it up to be quite the challenge. A slippery fellow that once Izuku gets a single lead is off before Izuku can reach the next one. He’s been tracking the man through the streets as fast as he can, but the thief seems to be one step ahead of him so far. The next lead means he’ll be heading to the Red Springs Inn next. That means Izuku has to get there before he does.]

Alright, I’m not letting him get ahead of me this time. Even if I’m here... I still have to be. Plus Ultra!

[There is a flicker of magic as Izuku places his hands on a nearby tree. A flash and a bang later and the tree transmutes and grows into a twisted-looking wooden ladder with footholds and all. Izuku is then climbing up the ladder onto the roof of the nearby building and is then running and leaping from roof to roof. Better for the bird’s eye view and to get to the Red Spring Inn faster! Occasionally, only stopping to transmute more branches and tall hanging trees into planks to use as a jumping point to the next roof or ledge!

[Farming is still helping and Izuku is just glad that he can lend a hand. Alchemy magic also seems to be a good thing to have in this regard. He’s working with the local farmers with helping the new crops sprout. He’s slow at the work at first but he’s getting better at it bit by bit. And when he’s not helping with the crops himself he is also a healthy strong boy so moving supplies and hauling tools or crops is right up his alley too. The hard work feels nice!

What he doesn’t notice right away while he’s working is the small next of pixies that have seemed to have nested in a corner of the field he’s working in. One moment he is kneeling down to plant and work on some seedlings when his foot catches a part of the nest buried in the brush.]

Eh-??! [Whoosh!!

In an instant, the nest of pixies erupts like a swarm of bees flying around him in a pink and glittery haze! His hair flies up and sticks there as he blinks rapidly at the swarm whooshing all around him! He flails!]

Ah-!! Ack- AHHHHiiii!!

[How does he get the swarm of bees pixies to stop?! They’re starting to chant some sort of magic or charm and the air is starting to spark!]

[c: 🥦 broadsword shopping]

[Being in a fantasy world like this and without his usual quirk Izuku has realized he needs a way to keep up with combat and battle without being able to use his usual superpowers. Alchemy isn’t always a combat type of magic (or at least he hasn’t quite honed a way to use it in a combative way just yet) so he thinks with a weapon that it would be a good way to supplement his skills.

And who doesn’t want a big as heck sword to go with this entire fantasy world vibe?? Like right out of a JRPG!?

Izuku is browsing a local blacksmith and weapons store. Looking at a row of the broadswords that might fit his style and his grip. He’s never bought a sword before so he is a little out of his league right now but looking at the weapons is just … so freaking cool.]

Uaa... These swords are amazing! I can’t believe I’m really here and I can get one…!

[d: 🥦 alchemy studying]

[Izuku is still very new to alchemy but he is getting the hang of transmuting organic matter. Wood, plants and the like came to him easily enough. But with his classmates learning their own magic he does want to try and see if he can study enough to help them as well. With Katsuki and Tsuyu both using light magic, he has figured that the faster he learns how to change and manipulate glass, metal and precious stones? The better.

And that is where Izuku is right now. He’s sitting on a bench outside as he tinkers with a handful of copper pieces and a container full of sand. He’s currently trying to transmute the copper pieces into different shapes and later trying to change the sand into proper glass lenses.

Holding the piece of copper in his hand Izuku suddenly winces as his magic flashes and burns his skin. He drops the copper piece with a clatter! This is going to take some practice...]

If I can get copper and sand to work right... I can start making magnifying lenses...

[Izuku is starting to mutter to himself!]

Yeah. I think it was something like my second month in this world. A bunch of people got cursed. Didn't meet anyone with the same curse as me, though.

[The way Midoriya flushes is amusing, and Gokudera turns his attention back to the nest. He gets up, brushes off his pants, and moves to get some wood, breaking some of it up and then burying parts of it to start to make a fence. There... now it can be more a barrier when the actual magical barrier he'll cast goes away.]

How do we feel about a pathway?

[He looks on at the pixie happily licking on the sweet. It looks down, then nods.]

Alright.

[He scoops some dirt out of the way and starts to grab rocks from around and behind him, partially burying those as well, then pressing his hand on them so they won't protrude as much. There's a little bit of a stone path forming, and if he can find smaller pebbles, he'll scatter to fill in between the stones. While he works, his silver hair slides in front of his face, so he has to use a dirty hand to repeatedly tuck it back behind his ear. Then, he's pulling glasses out of his pocket and admiring the work.]

What else, Midoriya? It's missing something...

[Don't mind as Izuku looks a little awestruck. If this is animal magic of some sort this is the first time that Izuku has seen it. And if it's not animal magic then she has some sort of talent that could rival a classmate's quirk. It's kind of amazing.]

I- ... Thank you! I'm alright! I was just working on this part of the field and somehow my foot caught the corner of their nest and... This is all my fault.

[He glances over his shoulder at the broken-up nest.]

I should do something to fix this... Ahh...

[fullgauntlet]

It's not my fault-!!

[So much for that little moment of quiet and contentment between them. It was nice while it lasted. Izuku's babbling mouth just ruins everything once again. Or this was kind of partly Katsuki's fault for saying what he did! Anyway!]

You were almost done with the barriers!!

[Ah, there's another name addition. He's going to need to ask Izuku about this, but first, he'll try his best to teach.]

Well, then I'm glad some of your friends ended up here with you. If I meet anyone else who talks about quirks, then I'll keep them in mind.

So since you're eager to work with swords, go ahead and try them out with the practice dummy. The first thing you need to know is even if a sword is made by the same blacksmith or company, one will not feel like the other. That's mostly how each sword is balanced and where it's balanced. The ideal point differs with each person.

You just need to try a sword that has its weight balanced fairly evenly between the blade and the hilt. If you have all the weight in the sword, it'll feel awkward for you to swing. If all the weight's in the hilt, then you're not going to have enough strength to do damage when you swing and the blade will likely snap.

[Maybe all those months of lessons have paid off, because he's remembering quite a bit from class and just general knowledge he's picked up from the army stationed at the Nord Highlands and Erebonia border.]

[Okay- this nerd might be just a little overly excited about learning magic. It's unlike a quirk but it's something that is his from the start. That's amazing to him.]

Ah- Maybe I'll start with a concealed dagger in my costume just like you said. [He smiles sheepishly.] To go along with a sword...!

[ So close! He'd consider this a personal failure if he can't - ]

[ POP!

The barrier literally bursts like a bubble. And since he had been half bracing against it? Guess. Where. He's going to. Fall. ]

But maybe you're right too- I'll be careful in case a broadsword is too imbalanced for me.

[He knows to listen! So, he looks at the weapons display and picks a longer looking broadsword that seems to be made of light-coloured iron.]

Maybe this one...?

[He picks it up by the handle and it does have quite the heft to it. But he lifts it with a small proud sparkle in his eye.]

[fullgauntlet]

Ahh!!

[Crash! Izuku's flops down against the ground with a whoosh of grass! And down comes Katsuki's weight right on top. Whump. Izuku gets the air knocked right out of him! A clatter of limbs! And the telltale smush of ... warm.]

Kachaa- Ow...

[... He's pinned-]

Kacchan- Please- ggg... [Get off him???]

It feels...

[He gives it a lift. It's hefty to be sure but there's something that feels really good about the weight. He can feel himself being able to use the power behind this. With some practice, of course...

His eyes are kind of nerd-sparkly...]

It feels great! ... I think this is good! Does it look okay?

[ Something way too warm. Because he kind of smacks his head on Izuku's shoulder going down. For a couple of seconds, Katsuki is practically dead weight until he starts to come to his senses. Even then it takes another moment or two because he is oddly comfortable.

Until, of course, he remembers that the soft squish right under him is actually a nerd. ]

Shit!

[ He realizes what just happened and he's scrambling to get off and scoot back. ]

[Oh good- He didn't get punched or kicked-- He's still a bit stunned from the- everything?? Why does this sort of thing keep happening...??

Izuku sits up and holds the little bump on the back of his head from the landing, looking embarrassed and half stupid... He quickly glances at Katsuki for some sort of recognition before he looks away.]

That's ... Ahh- I think that's enough for... today... I think I can work with that to figure out some work for your g-gauntlets...

[Is changing the subject RAPIDLY really going to fix anything.]

[ Oh it's not just Izuku that's stunned. BECAUSE IT KEEPS HAPPENING! And now his heart is beating way too fast for his comfort and there's a distinct lact of warmth that he's noticing and kind of - ]

Augh! Gotta go shower and get the nerd off.

[ He's not going to acknowledge the thought that crossed his mind. Misses it. Liked it

And changing the subject won't fix anything, but it's better than talking about the um. Obvious. ]

I wish I had a notebook right now...

[Because he really wants to write all this stuff down. He wants to make sure he gets everything right and that he learns properly about balance and imbalance. It seems the weight of the sword is very important. With the first one, Izuku takes the larger-looking broadsword and lifts it up with two hands. It's hefty and he tries a loose-looking stance.]

Weight distribution... If I want to use one like this I should make sure I can still keep my footing when I swing hard... Right? I think...

[He is going to try to give this one a swing! He aims for the dummy but it looks harder than it first seems. Izuku swings but it's a heavy lop and he doesn't hit it with much gusto.]

... Ah-! ...

[My, my. Nanaki can't help but chuckle.]

It looks like it suits you.

[He flusters just slightly.]

I should probably give it a try first... There are some practice dummies in the back, I think. Do you want to tag along?

[Tsu is quick to erect a barricade, reinforcing the door just in case.]

You stepped on their nest and they attacked you? I thought Pixies were like people, only little.

Not...I don't know...wasps?

[She's lost, but she hates wasps. They're the worst. She may have tried to eat one as a kid.]

[It's a bit of both, honestly. Her familiar moves to sit on her shoulder, gazing at Izuku with bright, orange eyes. If it feels like he's being judged it's because the owl is doing exactly that.]

An accident, but it is good that you wish to fix it. We can ask how the pixies would like it fixed, it is never good to assume with the fae.

[So much better than talking about the um obvious.]

Y-yeah...

[Maybe he'll just sit here for a moment longer with his thoughts and calm down before he leaves.]

[She's a Warrior, so yes! Surely this will not cause any problems in their lives as they continue to work together.

Izuku takes advantage of the opportunity Lizzie provides and pins the criminal to the ground. Lizzie pats herself down quickly and finds no rope. Welp.]

I have a belt!

[Until Yoshi-P takes it away.

Lizzie removes her belt and goes to help Izuku grapple their quarry. She grabs his hands and starts to tie them together with the leather.]

[Nanaki's tail swishes and he gives a nod.]

I think I will. Lead the way.

That seems to suit you much better. How do you feel about it?

Your footing is always important. It's also how you swing. It's not just your arms, but your whole body. Any weapon is an extension of yourself, so it'll just take time for you to grasp how to use the sword properly.

[Gaius examines his spear. It's been sharpened enough that it provides a nice contrast to the broadsword Izuku is using.]

Not to mention that each type of weapon does a different job. It's true they're all for stopping your enemy, but they go about it in different ways. You'll notice your sword isn't razor sharp, but if you do run thumb on it, you'll cut yourself. As long as you have enough force behind your blow, it doesn't need to be super sharp.

My spear is a little different because it's designed to thrust and take advantage of all the force behind it, so it has to be sharper. But that means in turn, I might have trouble trying to fight something heavily armored, whereas you might not have as much trouble.

There's also the difference in distance with our weapons, but you can obviously tell that.

[Izuku looks hyped for this, gathering up the weapon he picked to try out and heading out to the back of the shop to the small training grounds equipped out back.]

By the way, Nanaki-san...? Do you fight often too? It seemed like you were used to that sort of thing when we were working in that library.

It's not bad! These are heavier than they look but I think I can handle this one alright?

[He gives a loose stance.]
