[Snagglefoot Miffen is the name of the thief that has snatched up some precious gems from a local jewelry shop in Camelot. And if there is one thing that Izuku can’t tolerate as a student studying to be a hero? It’s crime, of course! When he had seen the task, he had signed up right away. Being away from his homeworld and his school hasn’t taken anything away from Izuku’s determination to be a hero and to help out whenever he can.

But this thief is chalking it up to be quite the challenge. A slippery fellow that once Izuku gets a single lead is off before Izuku can reach the next one. He’s been tracking the man through the streets as fast as he can, but the thief seems to be one step ahead of him so far. The next lead means he’ll be heading to the Red Springs Inn next. That means Izuku has to get there before he does.]

Alright, I’m not letting him get ahead of me this time. Even if I’m here... I still have to be. Plus Ultra!

[There is a flicker of magic as Izuku places his hands on a nearby tree. A flash and a bang later and the tree transmutes and grows into a twisted-looking wooden ladder with footholds and all. Izuku is then climbing up the ladder onto the roof of the nearby building and is then running and leaping from roof to roof. Better for the bird’s eye view and to get to the Red Spring Inn faster! Occasionally, only stopping to transmute more branches and tall hanging trees into planks to use as a jumping point to the next roof or ledge!

[b: quest: farmers-r-us]

[Farming is still helping and Izuku is just glad that he can lend a hand. Alchemy magic also seems to be a good thing to have in this regard. He’s working with the local farmers with helping the new crops sprout. He’s slow at the work at first but he’s getting better at it bit by bit. And when he’s not helping with the crops himself he is also a healthy strong boy so moving supplies and hauling tools or crops is right up his alley too. The hard work feels nice!

What he doesn’t notice right away while he’s working is the small next of pixies that have seemed to have nested in a corner of the field he’s working in. One moment he is kneeling down to plant and work on some seedlings when his foot catches a part of the nest buried in the brush.]

Eh-??! [Whoosh!!

In an instant, the nest of pixies erupts like a swarm of bees flying around him in a pink and glittery haze! His hair flies up and sticks there as he blinks rapidly at the swarm whooshing all around him! He flails!]

Ah-!! Ack- AHHHHiiii!!

[How does he get the swarm of bees pixies to stop?! They’re starting to chant some sort of magic or charm and the air is starting to spark!]

[c: 🥦 broadsword shopping]

[Being in a fantasy world like this and without his usual quirk Izuku has realized he needs a way to keep up with combat and battle without being able to use his usual superpowers. Alchemy isn’t always a combat type of magic (or at least he hasn’t quite honed a way to use it in a combative way just yet) so he thinks with a weapon that it would be a good way to supplement his skills.

And who doesn’t want a big as heck sword to go with this entire fantasy world vibe?? Like right out of a JRPG!?

Izuku is browsing a local blacksmith and weapons store. Looking at a row of the broadswords that might fit his style and his grip. He’s never bought a sword before so he is a little out of his league right now but looking at the weapons is just … so freaking cool.]

Uaa... These swords are amazing! I can’t believe I’m really here and I can get one…!

[d: 🥦 alchemy studying]

[Izuku is still very new to alchemy but he is getting the hang of transmuting organic matter. Wood, plants and the like came to him easily enough. But with his classmates learning their own magic he does want to try and see if he can study enough to help them as well. With Katsuki and Tsuyu both using light magic, he has figured that the faster he learns how to change and manipulate glass, metal and precious stones? The better.

And that is where Izuku is right now. He’s sitting on a bench outside as he tinkers with a handful of copper pieces and a container full of sand. He’s currently trying to transmute the copper pieces into different shapes and later trying to change the sand into proper glass lenses.

Holding the piece of copper in his hand Izuku suddenly winces as his magic flashes and burns his skin. He drops the copper piece with a clatter! This is going to take some practice...]

If I can get copper and sand to work right... I can start making magnifying lenses...

[Izuku is starting to mutter to himself!]

That's- probably a good idea! It can't be just me picking up a sword and swinging it around. A training sword... A training sword...

[Is there a wooden broadsword or something he could try out? Izuku frets and looks around the displays for something adequate.]

[Izuku smiles and reaches out to take the offered suggestion.]

I do like the green. [Or maybe he can get All Might colours on his weapons...] It feels really light too.

[He gives it a good grip and tilts it from side to side.]

It's still a little strange to think we're even in a world like this. That we could all get weapons like this... But this is not bad!

[It's shrinking.......??]

Ka-ka-chan...??

[His shoulders get smushed forward so they're really squished up face to face and he feels like his lungs are going to explode. He has no idea what is causing them to get so stuck in here or why the barriers are tightening. He has to put his hand over his mouth for a second to try and calm down...! It's too warm...

... Try and calm down- Is this really the same case as to where Tsuyu's magic had made her glow? Is Katsuki's frustration making this magic shrink?]

... You- you have to try and calm down-

[That's asking a LOT...]

WHO ARE YOU TELLING TO CALM DOWN? YOU CALM DOWN!

[ All that stuttering actually isn't helping at all. It's kind of working Bakugou up more because it means that Deku is also panicking. Not that Katsuki really blames him but they've had that argument before too! NOW THE LITTLE SHIT IS RIGHT BACK ON IT!

Which means that Katsuki is about to have a fit. That means kicking and punching at the barrier even though there is no way that he can break it Even though he has no leverage to actually get a decent hit in. Unfortunately that also means jostling Deku around.

Poor boys. ]

[Izuku is throwing all his strength against the door of the barn to keep it closed which is probably overkill but you never know with these magical creatures?? They could have some sort of power to blow the door open! And he's heaving himself as he tries to hold it closed but still hears them smacking against the wood and zapping it with little cracks of magic!]

Yeah- I think... so?

[The noise starts to tapper off which is only replaced with a gentle mooooooo of a nearby cow.]

Are you-? [... He glances over his shoulder at her and then sort of snorts with a sheepish laugh himself.] That was a close one...

[ She nods, glad that he sees the reason in her argument. She knew he would, but she's glad he came around to it quickly.

She reaches over to pick up the piece of misshapen copper from where it had landed, now cool to the touch once more, and holds it out for Izuku to take. ]

First, shape the copper. Then we can think about helping our friends.

[He's just sitting here and minding his own business making copper shapes when the bench is suddenly occupied with another occupant. But somehow that same sort of dread whips right up his spine since the first time this happened to him. When the same creepy presence had leaned into him at the Mall all that time ago.]

...?

[His body freezes and tenses almost as if he's ready to break into a fight almost immediately. His fists clench and he turns to look at ... him. Tomura Shigaraki.]

You!?

[It takes almost all of him to not just throw a punch right away, first giving into his shock. The danger sitting right next to him... Is this real? This can't be happening.]

There. That was it. That was exactly it. Even just that was enough for him and the rest would be the banning of pineapple on all pizzas if it pulled off right. The need to keep himself from grinning ear to ear was a war within himself was a tough one. Tough enough that his stoic appearance and slight bow of one of his eyebrows was only made possible by the slight bite of the inner part of his lip inside his own mouth.

"Me?" He echoed in question, flawless confusion on his face. "What about me?"

Kacchan!!

[If he could calm down right now he could?! But here is Katsuki just throwing an absolutely un-calm fit above him and jostling them around like a freaking box of candy! Izuku really can't help the way he needs to brace one foot on the back of the barrier again which effectively rubs his leg up against Katsuki's hip! One hand grabbing at Katsuki's arm to try and stabilize them both! He lets out a noise of half distress and a half... something else-]

P-please...just...

[Calm down! ... Calm down! Calm down! He can't ... Katsuki's so close and he can feel how warm and firm he is against Izuku's chest. That faint smell of sweat and dirt from their sparing and something else nice. It's probably just the adrenaline talking but Izuku's cheeks are getting too red. He can see every line of Katuski's chest and jaw-

Stop... looking!! Izuku shuts his eyes tightly!]

[He takes the copper piece with a nod. He feels really blessed to be able to have a good handful of his classmates here. For things like this it's really important that they support each other, he thinks. As much as he wants to get better at this faster... He won't be able to help anyone if he rushes and gets it all wrong.

He takes a deep breath even if it is a little shaky and then closes his hands over the copper.]

Alright... Hold on.

[With some better focus Izuku thinks only of the copper piece and changing the shape of it. That's all he needs to do right now. There is a small flicker of magic and when he opens his hands he's made the correct shape! Banzai!]

I- I did it! It worked! The copper changed!

[ That's because there's more going on here than just his magic backfiring. The fact that he's once again trapped is playing havoc on his nerves. The heat is suffocating. Suffocating just like he had been when -

Deku grabs his arm and Katsuki's focus shifts. He suddenly looks at the shitty nerd. It brings him back to reality and this moment. Though is that really better? Since now there's a hyper awareness of Deku hiding his face and blushing. Of where their bodies are making contact. Essentially he's realizing what's going on here and all of the sudden his ears just burn and he's got to not think about it.

Because there's that feeling again. The same one he had back when they had been stuck at that shitty inn. The one that makes his chest tight in a different way and NOPE. Nope, nope. Not going to - ]

Stop squealing! It's not helping!

[ Let him clear his mind and THINK. ]

[Wow, Izuku is actually extra impressed.]

I'm starting to think you might be some sort of fairy caller... First, you're able to play with bubbles and the pixies and now you have toys and candy for them too. Gokudera-san, you're a nice person, aren't you.

[He smiles with some pride and then crouches down to the broken little next. It's made out of mostly plant materials and dirt and stone. He thinks he can do something with this so he starts to use a flash of alchemy to start reconstructing what he can. Bits of the wall and leaves are easy and start to weave back together. And of course, he adds the shiny marbles to the structure as well. It starts to sparkle!]

How does this look, so far?

[Okay but pineapple should be banned from all pizzas--

Izuku frowns deeply. He can still feel his nerves tensing up tightly. But there is this distinct hollowness he feels inside of him. That hollow spot where One For All was.

It doesn't stop the anger and the rage from sparking in him, though.]

What are you doing here? ... You're not supposed to be here.

[fullgauntlet]

[It's too warm and it's only getting worse. Izuku has to gasp and grip tightly onto Katsuki's arm in some sort of attempt to both stop him and keep his attention on something else rather than punching the barriers and only making things even tighter. The last thing they need is for Katsuki to get in an even deeper bad mood.]

S-sorry. There's just not a lot of room...

[He's doing his best to help even if he doesn't have a single dang clue what to do to help. Or if he's actually helping or not. All that he can notice right now is the warmth of Katsuki's chest on top of him and it brings back a small flashback of them snoozing together in that icy inn and how content that had made him for most of the night. After the panic had worn off...

He opens his eyes but only to look away from Katsuki. Not seeing those red eyes is the only thing that's making Izuku heart not break into severe heart palpitations right now.]

[There will be time to wallow in the pain later!]

[Lizzie flies up again and speeds on ahead past Izuku toward the Red Springs Inn as the crow flies. There's no sense in trying to track the thief's path, as her role in this escapade is to cut him off at the pass.

She arrives as Snagglefoot Miffen is mounting a horse and starting to trot off. Neither she nor Izuku are going to be able keep on his trail if he gets the animal to a gallop, so Lizzie does the first thing she thinks of.

She flies straight into the side of him, knocking him off the horse and causing them both to tumble onto the ground with a hard thud. The horse, understandably spooked, takes off.]

Well, she seemed very nice. Her name was Tsuyu and said she had frog powers but didn't have them here? Something like that.

[Gaius smiles at watching Izuku light up with handling a sword. He would have argued against a sword just due to his size, but he appears to have been mistaken about that.]

You might want to take a few other broadswords and ask the shop keeper if we can practice outside. Then I can explain how weapons work and answer your questions about swords and spears. I'll find out if I remembered everything I learned in class.

[Added to that he'd have to explain to someone for whom tv and, in fact, radio hasn't been invented yet.

He doesn't laugh, but it's only because he knew when he was this age he would not have appreciated it...even if this child seemed much more easy going and social than he himself had been.]

How strong are your arms? If you've never handled a weapon or fought before a wooden sword would be a good place to start. If you think you can handle the weight, one made of iron that hasn't been sharpened can get you used to swinging it while getting your body acquainted with the weight.

[And then, because he can see this child is fretting...]

How do you usually fight?

[He's assuming you can at least fight because if your answer is going to be "I don't know how" then he's going to have to tell you to work on the basics before going for a weapon.]

[After being cursed by pixies, he was beyond embarrassed. There was seemingly no way to lift the curse, scary to go through and humiliating to hear about from other people.]

I was actually cursed by them. I should have taken them more seriously. I've learned my lesson, and I've spoken with other people who were more fortunate. Turns out they like sweets!

[He wouldn't call himself a nice person, but one who is more careful of magical creatures.]

I've always liked creatures more than people, though. Not a nice person... just don't want to be cursed again. [Or see Midoriya cursed because of an accident.]

Hmmm, looks good.

[Gokudera looks to the pixies for their feedback.]

Precisely. Now, if you truly do intend to wield that sword... you would need to use both hands. Are you used to fighting with or without them?

[ Strength doesn't happen overnight, neither does strategy! ]

[ Great. They are thinking of the same moment in time. Isn't that lovely. It doesn't really help them in their situation at all, but hey. Right now Katsuki is closing his eyes and trying to even out his breathing. Calming down is the main priority here. If his magic is really reacting to his emotional state, then he needs to settle his own racing heart. Everyone might think that he's pretty flat with his emotions, but that's pretty far from the truth.

When he opens his eyes again it's looking right back down to Deku's stupid adorable freckled mug. Katsuki can see the red marring the skin and obscuring those freckles too. Of course to him it just reads as embarrassment, which really is understandable. Being in a position like this with another guy - much less Katsuki - probably isn't how Izuku would like for this to go. ]

Don't move.

[ Because Katsuki is going to put his hands back on the barrier, palms touching. Unfortunately this means that he's half resting his head on Deku's shoulder at this point.

Focus. ]

[Before the pixies can get TOO agitated, there is a loud SCREECH from a giant owl as it circles once above their, and Izuku's head. Shortly thereafter, singing fills the air alongside a scent of something sweet, honey and milk, to be precise as Aurora sings out to them.

The pixies seem to be torn between attacking Izuku and going for the offering Aurora has out for them and heading towards the sweet sound of her voice.

At least SOME of them, though, have decided milk and honey is way more worth it than some random boy and fly towards the offering and her song. As they fly and land, some mushrooms grow, forming the beginnings of a faerie ring.]

Wind and fire, mostly. Still working on the other elements.

[ To be fair, he's working on the first two he's mentioned, too. This time he manages not to launch Izuku high up in the air but successfully summons swirls of wind that envelop the other boy's feet. ]

This should help, I hope. I'll be right behind you.

[He just manages to reach the pass when he catches sight of the thief climbing on the horse. And just as Lizzie goes barrel-rolling into him too-- Is she's as reckless as he is?! That's a pretty big feat!]

[He slides down the side of the last building and sprints for them and practically body tackles the thief to the ground. In most cases, he would have a quirk to help him pin down a criminal like this but for now it's all just his natural weight that he throws into it. The man yells and grunts and tries to grapple with Izuku but he holds on like nothing else matters!]

Do you have something to ties his hands with?! Quick-! Hnn!

[Hurry- Izuku gets an elbow smack to the cheek! Ow!]

[Izuku smiles lightly and nods.]

Yeah...! Tsu-chan is in my class. We're part of the same hero course back home. And just like everyone else, the quirks we used to have are gone here... So she can't use her frog abilities anymore just like I can't use my power augmentation quirk...

[But that's not going to stop him from wanting to wield a giant ass sword. Anyway,]

Alright- I'll go see what the shopkeeper says!

[It only takes a few moments of conversation before Izuku is practically sparkling when he's given several different broadswords and normal length swords to try out. They're directed to a few wooden practice dummies in the grassy back area of the shop.]

[Luckily Izuku can answer this question honestly! With a little bit of embarrassed pride blushing on his cheeks.]

I- I usually fight with hand-to-hand combat... With kicks and punches and a style, I made of my own...!

[He does lift an arm to pat one bicep. It's not as big as say Katsuki's would be but it's clear that under Izuku's loose-fitting clothing is a lean and athletic body. He's not as scrawny as he might first appear for a nerdy-looking kid.]

So- maybe a wooden sword would be good to start with but I think I'd like to start with an iron one first. One that isn't sharpened?
