[Snagglefoot Miffen is the name of the thief that has snatched up some precious gems from a local jewelry shop in Camelot. And if there is one thing that Izuku can’t tolerate as a student studying to be a hero? It’s crime, of course! When he had seen the task, he had signed up right away. Being away from his homeworld and his school hasn’t taken anything away from Izuku’s determination to be a hero and to help out whenever he can.

But this thief is chalking it up to be quite the challenge. A slippery fellow that once Izuku gets a single lead is off before Izuku can reach the next one. He’s been tracking the man through the streets as fast as he can, but the thief seems to be one step ahead of him so far. The next lead means he’ll be heading to the Red Springs Inn next. That means Izuku has to get there before he does.]

Alright, I’m not letting him get ahead of me this time. Even if I’m here... I still have to be. Plus Ultra!

[There is a flicker of magic as Izuku places his hands on a nearby tree. A flash and a bang later and the tree transmutes and grows into a twisted-looking wooden ladder with footholds and all. Izuku is then climbing up the ladder onto the roof of the nearby building and is then running and leaping from roof to roof. Better for the bird’s eye view and to get to the Red Spring Inn faster! Occasionally, only stopping to transmute more branches and tall hanging trees into planks to use as a jumping point to the next roof or ledge!

[b: quest: farmers-r-us]

[Farming is still helping and Izuku is just glad that he can lend a hand. Alchemy magic also seems to be a good thing to have in this regard. He’s working with the local farmers with helping the new crops sprout. He’s slow at the work at first but he’s getting better at it bit by bit. And when he’s not helping with the crops himself he is also a healthy strong boy so moving supplies and hauling tools or crops is right up his alley too. The hard work feels nice!

What he doesn’t notice right away while he’s working is the small next of pixies that have seemed to have nested in a corner of the field he’s working in. One moment he is kneeling down to plant and work on some seedlings when his foot catches a part of the nest buried in the brush.]

Eh-??! [Whoosh!!

In an instant, the nest of pixies erupts like a swarm of bees flying around him in a pink and glittery haze! His hair flies up and sticks there as he blinks rapidly at the swarm whooshing all around him! He flails!]

Ah-!! Ack- AHHHHiiii!!

[How does he get the swarm of bees pixies to stop?! They’re starting to chant some sort of magic or charm and the air is starting to spark!]

[c: 🥦 broadsword shopping]

[Being in a fantasy world like this and without his usual quirk Izuku has realized he needs a way to keep up with combat and battle without being able to use his usual superpowers. Alchemy isn’t always a combat type of magic (or at least he hasn’t quite honed a way to use it in a combative way just yet) so he thinks with a weapon that it would be a good way to supplement his skills.

And who doesn’t want a big as heck sword to go with this entire fantasy world vibe?? Like right out of a JRPG!?

Izuku is browsing a local blacksmith and weapons store. Looking at a row of the broadswords that might fit his style and his grip. He’s never bought a sword before so he is a little out of his league right now but looking at the weapons is just … so freaking cool.]

Uaa... These swords are amazing! I can’t believe I’m really here and I can get one…!

[d: 🥦 alchemy studying]

[Izuku is still very new to alchemy but he is getting the hang of transmuting organic matter. Wood, plants and the like came to him easily enough. But with his classmates learning their own magic he does want to try and see if he can study enough to help them as well. With Katsuki and Tsuyu both using light magic, he has figured that the faster he learns how to change and manipulate glass, metal and precious stones? The better.

And that is where Izuku is right now. He’s sitting on a bench outside as he tinkers with a handful of copper pieces and a container full of sand. He’s currently trying to transmute the copper pieces into different shapes and later trying to change the sand into proper glass lenses.

Holding the piece of copper in his hand Izuku suddenly winces as his magic flashes and burns his skin. He drops the copper piece with a clatter! This is going to take some practice...]

If I can get copper and sand to work right... I can start making magnifying lenses...

[Izuku is starting to mutter to himself!]

A glove...? You mean something like the ones on my costume?

[That's said as she brings her hands up, making a motion to mimic the placement of her amplifiers' bracers around one of her wrists.
She's not sure how she hadn't thought of that - but then again, that's why she brings this kinda stuff up with people like Midoriya in the first place.
Sure, Jiro's smart... but even she needs to bounce ideas off someone smarter, sometimes.]

How about... maybe a pair of gloves with little pockets on the back? They could hold three or four darts that way, I think!
Ah - but they gotta be fingerless, obviously.

[It's fast! Izuku keeps his nerves about him, trying to deflect each attack and slash with a parry of his own. But a large broadsword is hard to keep a block up with. As his heel presses into the ground when he backs up Izuku tries to push into the attacks instead. Trying to slash back instead of blocking all the hits.]

Ha-!

[But the last one seems to be too much on Izuku's balance for the moment. He stumbles and the weapon clatters from his hand. He winces slightly and looks down at his hand which is scarred from previous battles. But Izuku has a smile on his lips, one that is a bit proud to be learning even if it comes with knicks and scratches.]

Almost...! I almost had every slash parried!

[Ochako wouldn't have called it a mistake and more an accident (honestly, who builds their nest on a busy farm and doesn't expect these sorts of mishaps...), but fixing the pixies' home really is in everyone's best interests here. The spot is a good fit - sunny, but with just enough shade and wind protection from the trees to keep it safe and dry when the rains come. Plus, it'd only be a short dash over toward the fields, for whatever it is the pixies do there. Probably get food, and maybe even scavenge dropped or lost items...what with their like of shiny things.

Ochako watches Deku work, grinning as he implements some of the other things she brought into his overall design. It's rough around the edges, definitely - Izuku's no home designer or architect - but it is a good, sturdy home!! Almost akin to that of a birdhouse, maybe, just a bit...uncentered. At least it does look livable, and less like a nest and more like an actual little house!! The pixies all fly down to inspect it, buzzing inside and out, all around, and seem to chatter happily and excitedly amongst themselves.]

Oh, I think they like it!! [Kneeling down, Ochako beams as the pixies all seem to mumble and nod, but then flutter back toward the two and hover in the air. Oh come on, what more do they want?] Eh, is...is something the matter?

["One more thing before we go!"

"Yes, yes! Just one!!"

There's a buzz in the air, and the pixies all look at each other a moment, before smiling and looking, almost expectantly from Ochako to Izuku in turn, slowly. They all then say, in unison:

"Will you give us your names, heroes?"

Ochako's breath catches in her throat, and she smacks a hand over Izuku's mouth right away, just in case he even attempts to answer, beaming happily, but her friend can feel the tiny shake of her fingers.]

R-Right!! Of course we'll tell you our names! Hahah! I'm Uravity, and this is Deku. [The pixies blink, scowl for but a fraction of a second before they smile again, and nod their heads in thanks...silently retreating inside their new home.] Ffff----uwah! That was close!

[kiss_it_better]

[He doesn't laugh because that's rude but his smile does widen a fraction.]

You did well.

[But then he's reaching out to take Midoriya's hand. That's a lot of scars but he's more concerned about any new injuries, after all, old injuries can build up, making new injuries more likely.]

Are you hurt?

[When released Izuku lets out a huff and rubs his jaw. Katsuki doesn't have to say it like that...

A bit nervous now! But he lets Katsuki head back to his room. He has some things to finish himself so with a sigh he heads back to his own. And the little goat decides to stick close with Katsuki too. Betrayer!]

It did. I wasn't very experienced yet, and there are large sentient trees where I'm from that are very territorial.

[She'd show him the damage, but it would require removing her shirt. He'll just have to take her word on it.]

I'm not very surprised to hear that. You seem like the passionate sort--jump in head first to do the right thing. I don't think that's a terrible way to live, personally.

[And he tries to mimic that pose explained with the wide stance and holding the blade with two hands. It's a bit hard to stay focused on one spot but it feels more stabilized.]

[Izuku is already bubbling with a few ideas in his head. He never really thought he'd be into support gear this much but honestly if he can help his classmates retain something like they had before, why not! He wants to help!]

I haven't tried a lot of potion brewing yet but maybe I could enhance the darts that way...

[You know, slap on some cool paralyzing potions to the darts. The ideas are flowing.]

I think I should be able to make them look a lot like your costume gloves...!

[She's got to keep her aesthetic.]

[Izuku feels like this has to be a good start. He's used to starting at the very bottom and working his way upwards so hard work isn't new to him. Sometimes that means a few bumps and bruises every once in a while.

He smiles sheepishly as he's checked over, a tiny redness on his face in embarrassment.]

N-no, I think I'm fine. A friend told me that my grip might be weaker these days but I'm trying to work on that too.

[He does stretch his fingers. No cuts or anything. Just new grip on a new heavy weapon! He can do this!]

Toshinori Midoriya...? [He looks embarrassed but kind of happy.] Y-yeah... Maybe he would.

Sentient trees? That's ... I'm guessing that means deforestation isn't a problem in your world? Haha...

[It's okay, he believes her! He doesn't need her shirt off!!]

... And I guess it comes hand in hand with wanting to be a hero. [A lot of his classmates are the same way.] When there's trouble happening jumping right in to stop it before it can get worse or someone can get hurt. Yeah, It's the right thing to do.

[A thief stealing a bunch of stuff isn't the worst danger there is but Izuku still always wants to do his best in any situation.]

[And that hand smacks right on his mouth! He is effectively muted and he lets Ochako take the lead with the answer even if he was going to be more than happy to say it too! Being called heroes... It feels so cool and real?!

Or was he missing something there... Tricky, tricky pixies...

Once the little fae creatures are off on their way enjoying their new home the two of them can head back towards the farm.]

Wha- What was that about, Uraraka-san?

He'll make a note to ask the healer he's been working with about working with old injuries.]

If it hurts let me know. We don't want to aggravate any previous injuries. [And with that he lets go.]

[Yes, back towards the farm and far, far away from those tricky pixies. Ochako still seems a little nervous, constantly looking over her shoulder, just to ber totally sure they're not even followed, or watched, or...something. She doesn't know. All this sort of stuff she only ever heard of in books and manga!! Never once thought all those things she read were actually going to be true...or come in handy like they did just now.]

S-Sorry, Deku-kun, I...um. I didn't mean to do that s-so suddenly, but...to fairies, or...fae creatures i-in general, names hold a lot of power. Never, ever, give your name to a fae if it asks for it, and especially not your full name. That's how it can control you. [She looks away again, poking her index fingers together.] Fantasy and science fiction are my favorite genres, so I...r-read a lot of books about that sort of stuff, and every fantasy story - th-that wasn't geared toward little kids - that I've come across always said that. That there are rules you have to follow when encountering a fae creature.

If a fae asks 'will you give me your name' or 'can I have your name', they're literally asking to take it. You can be wily and respond like I did by saying 'I'll tell you my name' but...that might make them mad, and always use a nickname or a fake name.

Enhance them? Like, what - douse them in poison or something?

[She definitely sounds intrigued by that, almost excited!
Though after a half-second of thought, she does her best to reign that excitement in.]

N-not that I want any dangerous poisons, I mean. [She's pretty metal, but she's not that metal.] Something like... y'know, how some spiders can paralyze with theirs?
Or maybe a truth serum, like in comics or whatever... that'd be pretty wicked, right?

No, deforestation is not an issue. [Both her Wood and the woods of Gridania are well-protected, albeit by different means.] We have myriad other issues without having to add that to them.

And, for what it's worth, I think you're an excellent hero already, Izuku. I look forward to working with you some more while we're both here.

But I really liked this sword, it felt good to hold. As long as I can get the strength back up in my hand, I think I can get this one.

[Stop, Akira! He's going to give Izuku a blush!?!?! No, it's too late. The blush is there. A sidekick...]

It- It was fun! ... I can take care of the rest from here, I know where he has to be taken.

[Time to wrap this quest up!]

[Don't worry, Izuku is zero-metal (or is he... uh well in some cases maybe he's metal) so he doesn't think he can make anything like poisons...]

Ah- Y-yeah! I was thinking along the lines of paralyzing agents or blinding... Not exactly... poisons...

[But in a battle sense, it might really be handy?? He laughs sheepishly.]

But a truth serum? I wonder if anything like that can be made? It would be really useful!

[With that they do reach the part of town where they can hand in their culprit. Izuku finds himself flustering when she calls him an excellent hero already because while that feels really super great to hear it makes his cheeks flare-up. He still has a lot to learn, he would argue! But his dreams are coming true and he's really grateful for it! Everyday!]

T-thanks, Lizzie-san...! I want to live up to that if someone like you says it. I hope we can work together again sometime too. I think we make a good team.

[And honestly he wouldn't mind hearing more about those 'myriad of other issues' about her world sometime too.]

[He's read his own fair share of fantasy novels and manga before but he's never come up on that fact before! Probably because most of the fantasy he reads is more hero-era related. Or he didn't remember the entire fact.]

I think I remember reading something about using a middle name for that instead of giving your full name. I didn't think it would be that... serious.

[Actual shivers. It's really like a brain jack if they can take control over someone?? Big yikes!]

If you like it then you should get it. [Then he reached out to move Midoriya's hands back onto the blade handle.] You don't need to grip hard with all of your fingers. Some of them will be for support the others will be to help with aiming. And especially if you lack strength in your hand, try to deflect or dodge rather than outright blocking.

[Izuku looks down and holds to the blade handle more gently this time. Observing his hands. He takes the note to heart because if he can balance his hands then it should be okay. These days Izuku's legs are stronger than his arms so that's where most of his power is but this will be okay.]

Okay. I think I can work on that while getting stronger with my hands. Dodging and parrying...

[He looks up with a thankful smile, cheeks a bit pink.]
