Jane Porter | Disney's Tarzan (MoM CRAU) | OTA

i. the silent shore
[On the journey, there's something almost serene about the place, for the first hour or so. After that, the silence around them begins to feel almost oppressive, and Jane begins to wish for the sound of any animal (outside of whatever in Gods name that is screaming in the distance). A bird, a wild dog, anything at all. There is something wrong about this place, something sick, and as they go on she questions her own wisdom in coming along.

But she can't turn around and go back alone. That would be worse.

While they walk along the shore she keeps to herself, occasionally shifting the weight of her pack of supplies and watching her steps with a small frown. On her shoulder a brightly coloured bird sits silently, occasionally ruffling up its wings and puffing up its chest.

When the bandits attack Jane's first instinct is to yell out, only to find that she can't. She scrambles out of her tent and grabs the first thing to hand - a big stick. She really must find some kind of proper weapon when (if) they all get back from this.

However, despite her fear, she won't hesitate to swing said stick against the head of an orc as they focus their attention on someone else. Unfortunately, it doesn't knock them out... it just gives them a new target.
]

Oh... um, hello.

ii. the elevator
[The elevator only fits two at a time, but Jane isn't entirely fussy about who she ends up going down with. She steps in beside the other person and her jaw tightens slightly as the doors close and the contraption begins to make its slow, juddering way downwards.]

This was a terrible idea. [She breathes out on a sigh, lifting her eyes up to the ceiling of the little box. On the one hand, at least she isn't on her own, but on the other... sometimes being trapped in a small space with a stranger can be worse.

Predictably (and so predictably she could have gambled on it) it's only ten minutes or so before the elevator jerks itself to a sudden stop. The grinding noise as it does so startles an alarmed yelp out of Jane as she braces her hands against the walls.
]

Oh, goodness, what now.

iii. questions three
['How many chickens would it take to kill an elephant?']

I'm sorry? [The first two questions had been easy. Her name, what she was looking for, but the third one has her stumped. How many chickens would it take to kill a--]

Oh, no, no, that isn't my answer. Give me a moment. Ah-- what kind of elephant? And what kinds of chickens?

[Asking questions in return is probably not the best way to go about this, but some elephants are smaller than other elephants, and male elephants are larger, so it would take more chickens to kill them.

Jane assumes that she needs to get the answer right.

iv. the archives
[Being told that she can look around but not take anything is almost painful for Jane, but she has no plans to try and steal from the place - especially when it means they might find themselves having gone through all of this for nothing.

She picks a few from the shelves that look interesting and opens the first one after gently brushing the dust off the cover, though she still ends up sneezing with the dust that flies off the pages themselves. The writing inside is tiny and appears hand-written, and she purses her lips as she moves the book back and forth from her eyes as if it might help.
]

I wonder if he would let me borrow one of those magnifying glasses.
