You fought the dragon?

[Now this is interesting to Hijikata. He only encountered the purple dragon once, when the expedition to Lestari took shelter in its cave. During the disaster night he went after the stone giant rather than the fire-spitting beast, and while he joined a dragon hunter group in the aftermath they didn't actually encounter the enemy.]
