Maybe they're for the Fisher King. He's got to be hiding somewhere in this area. Let's see where they lead.

At one point two pairs of large reflecting eyes stare at them from a barren tree, the skeletal outline of which is barely visible in the dense fog. This area sucks!!]
If nothing else I guess these lanterns will help us find the way back later on; we just have to follow the trail back.
[The trail, though, seems to following a fairly regular curve... he isn't sure, but at this rate he almost feels like they'll end up going in a circle.]
