The doorway is cursed to blind whoever goes through it. Like, you know, the things that can't be killed. They're useless if they can't see us!

[ So it's Emerald's.. best attempt at trying to deal with the situation. She knows blind people can learn to fight, but it takes a long ass time and these creepy monsters aren't going to have any way to learn it. ]
