It isn't one of the answers Wei Wuxian was expecting, and it sparks new chains of worry in his assessment of the situation, but the idea that there's more to this loss of memory than the immediate circumstances surrounding the fight has not yet occurred. Lan Zhan has nothing to fear, because his benefactor hasn't realized the full extent. Why would he? Under his calm and solicitous demeanor are fears that increase but don't clarify, and what medical knowledge he has was gained under duress and with a very pointed focus. He just knows that he, they including the poor fretting disciples, are not best equipped to deal with injuries. Lan Zhan is the one with healing magic, and even without his former abilities seemed untouchable to boot. What does that leave if he is injured beyond their abilities to look after him? Do they entrust his care to strangers? He doesn't seem to be having the best luck with those, unless he were attacked by a creature. Which is also frustratingly possible.

So the gravity of Lan Zhan's admission is mostly lost on him, at least for now, and he only pats Lan Zhan's arm with the hand not offering him careful support as his mind races ahead. He was too out of sorts to remember it was even a thing to check, understandable enough, or he doesn't care about the question in his current state when he hasn't even bothered to replace his ribbon, also fair.
