taken altogether it's even stranger. the awareness of where he is and what he's wearing and who he's with and how it's so drastically different from everything he ever had in life it makes his head spin. he used to find himself comparing things to chaldea, but sometimes his mind wanders further back, perhaps because something had reminded him unconsciously. it's nice when he thinks of good times, but also has the unintended effect of making him acutely aware of everything he stands to lose.
he also remembers what kate had posted on the network before — whether or not she had intended to — and then what she'd said to him directly after that. how it's different in this world and maybe everyone shouldn't bother trying to hold onto things instead of just enjoying what's in front of them right now.
and maybe that's true. and izō is very good at impulsively acting in the moment and not considering the future consequences most of the time, but he's still worried. things are different now, aren't they? it's a consequence he can't overlook this time.
