Autumn, despite the chillier weather, is a season of warmth and gathering. Perhaps moreso this year than normal, given the rather unplanned gathering of Celliwig and Lestari underneath Camelot's roofs. Though significant contributions from otherworlders have made food, shelter, clothes and other productions and donations, medical care, security and protection, and childcare an amazing group effort, typical individual celebrations for the departure of the dead from Avalon aren't being held, like Lestari's Death Ball. After looking at all the support they've been given, Lestari and Celliwig have looked at what they have to offer to help both their own people and the people of Camelot and other worlds.

The people of Lestari excel in cognitive magic, and while there are those who use it for mind-altering magics, there is a good portion who dedicate their studies to emotional and psychological support. One such method is the enchantment of origami paper into something affectionately called Worry Monsters: an specialized counseling technique used to help form support bonds between people with negative emotions. Having spent a portion of the month enchanting paper, two square sheets of paper are handed out to anyone the encounter. The first paper says: "Personifying your emotions can give them a tangible form and make them easier to face. Write down something that causes you worry, stress, fear, or sadness. This is your Worry Monster." The second paper says: "When your Worry Monster is present, how does it make you feel? Any reaction is valid."
When both papers are written on, the writing on both will disappear as if absorbed by the paper, then the pages will animate and fuse, then begin to fold into a monster! Halloween is this month, is it not? There is no sense in not having a little fun. These little Worry Monsters will stomp off and begin roaming Camelot until they find a match-- someone who shares those feelings. Once they find an emotional matching Worry Monster, the monsters will return to their creator and grow to the size of kaiju. They are very light, enchanted paper, so even if someone or something gets stepped on, they won't be hurt or damaged. However, they are strong enough to pick their makers up and carry them to the matching monster who will do the same. Don't worry-- characters will be invisible while being carried by their monster, so their identities will be protected until they are brought to their match. The paper monster will turn to butterflies and fly away once their task is complete. What matches do after they are brought to each other is up to them-- but they will know, undoubtedly, that they share the same worries-- they are with someone who understands. Do it as many times as you'd like, for as many negative emotions as your character wants. For finding something to do, Celliwig offers a solution. While Lestari's people have spent their efforts this month enchanting papers, the people of Celliwig are less apt to share so openly. Instead, they take their time learning about a variety of holidays from other worlds, and come to find one they can apply their particular talents to. While most of their showcase in the past has been on light magic, a holiday such as Halloween plays in particular to their talents in dark magic. A number of locations that have opted in and won't interfere with other relief efforts have been enchanted with dark magics for brave souls to venture into and test their courage! What's more, each of these locations will yield tokens for the victors that can be used to gain prizes. All courage tests must be performed with partners. Costumes are encouraged but not required.
	The library has been converted into a haunted art gallery, many of which have had their paints and other implements enchanted. Some paintings will seem like they're watching you, others will seem like a small figure in the background is following you throughout the library in different paintings. A painting of fruit may start throwing the fruit at you and materializing it into real fruit, so you may find yourself pelted with tomatoes if you don't run fast! A single painting filled with black paint might start leaking and filling the room you're in, pulling you into shadow until you're stuck in the library's underground labyrinth. There are a variety of paintings with different curses applied. Navigate through the library and escape the haunted paintings-- pairs who make it through without turning back will gain a Celliwig Token.
Another token can be gained via scavenger hunt in the Broceliande. Find cursed dolls from within tree hollows. The dolls will giggle and try to run away, may move when they're only visible in the corner of your eye if you set them down. What's perhaps a little spookier is that they take on the appearance of the first person to touch them, though they will never exceed three inches in height. Beware during your search, however, as there are a good many trees that have been transfigured into mimics. Though the mimics are not going to attack anyone, they do have giant hidden, wriggling tongues that will reach up and wrap the unalert up above the ground for capture. The only way down is if a partner fights the mimic, so don't go alone! Find a doll of both you and a partner and make it back to Camelot to obtain your token. The curse will break once they're exchanged for a token, so you can keep the cute little doll for yourself if you'd like.

The last test of courage invokes a temporary blindness hex on one of the partners. Both partners are walked into a soundproofed room, entirely silent in a way that truly seems to mess with one's head.

The unblinded partner is only allowed to answer "yes" or "no" questions, though no one will fault them for giggling as long as they give no clues otherwise. The blind partner is to stick their hands into a tank of water with mystery items hidden within. These items may be mere objects like peeled grapes in soggy noodles, or perhaps the tank is filled with chicken bones and those tiny garra that eat dead cells and are sometimes used for pedicures. All the items are set up to feel spooky, but ultimately are unharmful. As long as the partner who can give clues doesn't break the yes/no rules and the item is guessed within 3 guesses, a token will be rewarded!

Bring tokens to the inn where a stall has been set up, with Gwion working the booth to exchange tokens for the following prizes:

1 Token: Celliwig glasswork glass set of 4-- spooky themed! It's filled with candy upon receiving, so they are friendly for everyone.
2 Tokens: Recipe: Smokescreen - Cast this spell on any liquid to make it billow plumes of fog. The smaller the water surface, the smaller the billow. A shot glass might just create a small whisp, but two mop buckets would be enough to fill up a medium room. Will not effect the contents of the liquid. Cannot be used on water bodies larger than a swimming pool (could screen about half a block).
3 Tokens: Recipe: From the Void - Summons a disembodied tentacle from the shadows. It takes a lot of energy, so you could probably manage up to three casts a day at most before becoming exhausted. Great for binding enemies, sneaking in small spaces, and reaching places you might not be able to otherwise. The tentacle will follow whatever command you have in mind upon summoning, so be sure to concentrate on the task at hand!

Smaller bits here and there since I arrived but I must say this has been an opportunity to stretch my abilities a great deal more.

[And then, to demonstrate the skills he's been practicing, he bows dramatically, one hand outstretched to the side as though holding a cloak out of the way. A cloak that materializes in a fall of black and deep rich plum and as he stands he turns on his heel. By the time he rotates back around to face her, hand raised to tip his hat as is only appropriate, he's in a completely different outfit. ]

Quite handy... if a touch theatrical, I will admit.

[His right hand drifts to the side and he draws a sword, gleaming and bright, from seemingly thin air.]

But certainly useful to ensure one is never unarmed.

When you think about it, most magic kind of defies common sense, doesn't it...?

[ Spoken like someone who really doesn't quite get the entirety of how magic works... but look. When you're living a completely nonmagical mundane life, and you discover it's real--when you realize it's possible to summon idealized and alternate versions of the people you read about in history books... what part of that has anything to do with "common sense"?

The privacy thing, too, feels a little off, but she lets that drop for now. ]

Anyway, okay, assuming you're right--what now? Do we like, talk and hold hands or something? I don't really feel like that's going to accomplish anything for us.

Can you? What kind of potions?

[ She brightens at that, with all the curiosity of a proud parent. That's cool in her book! The closest she ever got to working potions in Chaldea was occasionally running as gofer or other assistant for certain Casters. ]

I learned how to make a potato, but that's about it. I just thought it'd be kind of funny when they were offering to teach the spell.

It seems so.

[It was unexpected when the worry monsters dissolved into butterflies. He was surprised, though his eyes only widened a little to show it.]

...no. It didn't mention anything like this.

Mighty and powerful--haha, no. Sorry about that.

[ She rubs the back of her neck, slightly bashful. What a wild idea, the idea that she's powerful at all. If anything, her strength lies in how weak she actually is; there's a half-baked theory, in the back of her mind, that she succeeds because heroes like Beowulf take one look at her and think: this girl is hopeless, and someone needs to make sure she survives. ]

It's more like... one of those situations where magic exists, but I didn't know about it until a few years ago. And it's not like I was secretly some kind of genius or anything, I was just--in the right place at the right time.

[ Or the wrong place at the wrong time, which might be what's happening here. Ritsuka pauses as well when she sees the hallway of blank paintings, grimacing briefly. ]

...I feel like this hall is creepier than the last one, to be honest.

...I was trying to teach my new buddy some tricks.

[ The capybara just blinks slowly, blowing out a deep breath through its whiskers. ]

And then I got tired, so I decided to just close my eyes for a moment. That's all.

[Talk and hold hands. He snorts in response to that, rolling his eyes, and he's pretty assured she agrees in principle.]

Like hell! . . . But that was probably the point. It's a childish ruse. Stick people together with the same issues to commiserate . . . but that's not really how it works. Especially if it ends up shoving two people like us together. This method really could've used some quality control.

[Dust shakes his head, though at least he manages to conjure up a wry smile.] I'm more used to things getting worse and more desperate and still mostly not failing them. Sometimes, there's nothing you can do, though.

Hey, don't talk of yourself like that.

[ She wasn't nearly as self-depreciating and self-loathing as him, but the way she talked reminded her a bit of Kadoc. Downplaying one's own achievements because they aren't special or something. ]

I'm not a genius either... In fact, the overwhelmingly vast majority of people aren't geniuses or anything. [She smiled.] If you come last in the Olympics, that probably sounds like a defeat... But you were in the Olympics to begin with, you know? You're already at the top of the world.

[ So of course, she used on her the same metaphor she'd used with Kadoc. It was easy to dismiss yourself as "not special" or "bad" when comparing yourself with those better than you... But that was missing the mark entirely. And those people better than you? Were always worse than you in certain domains. But of course, thinking like that was easier said than done.

For the time being, Monika stopped in her tracks, completely ignoring the "paintings." ]

So really, even if you're not on par with the winners? That doesn't make you any less exceptional.

[ For all his years alone, for all his time attempting to play ringleader in his tiny friend group (if 1-2 friends can be even called a group) to no avail, either grumping or taking the role of junior prankster himself... he's not used to being the butt of the joke. It takes him a second to kind of register being laughed at, the joke being at his own expense for once...

...but surprisingly, it's actually refreshing. He knows Della — he likes Della. He knows it's in good humor. And it draws a cockeyed, sheepish smile over his face, letting out a breathy little chuckle in spite of himself. After all, the very first word he ever spoke to his best friend back home was "Boo," although far more sarcastic in his delivery... but poor Luca wasn't in on the joke at first, either, even less so than this — Alberto scared the scales off the poor kid, too. He deserved this jump scare, frankly; the "boo" karma was long in coming. He collects himself and pushes forward, resting his harpoon over his shoulder casually. ]

Heh... Okay, Signora. Next! Hah!

[ He points forward enthusiastically. He'll try to think of some payback. It's gotta be well-timed, though... ]

[ ... Yeah, he's totally just showing off now. She has a feeling if Virion was here, he'd be doing the same thing... ]

You can draw weaponry from thin air? That seems dangerous in the wrong hands... not that I'm implying those are yours, mind you.

Potion... to draw attention. To make sure, I am noticed. Useful, in battle... so others, can escape, or attack from behind. Other potion...healing.

... I can also grow potato.

[ But unlike Ritsuka, he didn't do that one for lulz - he does indeed eat the whole potato raw when he's hungry. ]

[ Relieved, she also smiles. ]

Then let's focus on what we can do right now - exchange dolls for tokens for cool prizes! Do you know what you wanna get?

[She tilts her head slightly, but decides to roll with it. At least it won't be boring.

Irhya invokes the hex herself, the world darkening around her. It's a little nerve-wracking, and she has to consciously fight the panic reflex.]

All right... first one?

[The question brings Dust up short.]

I... didn't even think of that. I just came for the challenge.

[ After some more copious giggling, Della does manage to walk forward, trying in vain to calm down. ]

Oh, boy, I love this time of year! It was my favorite holiday when I was a kid! And me and my brother, Donald, would wear "opposite" costumes! Like last time, I wore a costume like this, and his was an angel! I'm really amazed he didn't trip on his robe at all that night...

[ As she walks, Alberto may notice Della is taking a wide berth around any paintings that contain oceans, or ones about being underwater. Not looking at them, not acknowledging them, just... making sure to walk as fast and as far away from them as possible. ]

[ She raises her eyebrows, surprised. ]

Huh, really? ... I mean, I would have done this stuff anyway without the prizes, but I definitely want them - there's a spell you can learn to summon a TENTACLE! How cool is that?!

What would I do with a tentacle?

[Dust knows Della well enough by now that he is really questioning if SHE should have access to this spell, also.]

Yes!!

[Ryouma's current blindness allows Hijikata to shamelessly observe him (not that he'd bother to deliberately avoid such rudeness otherwise), and his calm and thorough approach appeals to him. Maybe this pacifistic man could be a good future quest- or research partner... what's more, though, they only have one guess left, and honestly, what more do the Celliwigians want from them now that it's been identified as candy? Do they seriously want to hear that it's gummy cancy? Or frog candy?]

I mean, that's not not how it works, either.

[ Not that Ritsuka really understands the tenants of therapy, nor has she really sat down to have a session--there's been no time for any of that, even if anyone was qualified on the remaining staff--but she does understand the idea of sharing burdens.

And even if they're coming from it on completely opposite sides of their shared circumstances, it's not really a surprise they'd have similar worries. ]

Who were you hoping to talk to? Someone who has no idea about anything that happened back home? Someone who'd just listen to you talk about your guilt and not know when and where to call you out?

[The statues most certainly have turns their heads and bodies to watch the duo go, but thankfully it's after both Zidane and Ochako have already passed. Still, it's no less creepy - the vibe in here is terrible, and Ochako's grip on Zidane's hand is a little tighter than it would be otherwise. Sorry, man.]

I wasn't scared of either of you. [She frowns a little. It's a sore topic still, and she wont apologize either.] I knew, more or less, what to expect, so I could fight to the best of abilities. I can't exactly punch gh--AAAAAHHHH!!

[Nothing scary this time, but startling. A famous portrait, one Ochako knows exceptionally well, considering it's from her country animated, and the "Wave" shoots water like a hose at both herself and Zidane alike. Thank goodness they're right by the exit.]

It brings you all the way out here, and then it just disappears like that?! And mine too?!

[What the hell!! Now he'll have to give Chang Geng a Camelot totem to get back there - well, he doesn't have to, but he's not about to make him walk!]

Let's go inside to review the instructions. I have another few sheets of that paper.

[While they're both here they may as well try to make sense of this! Chang Geng happens to be the first (living) visitor to Hijikata's modest new home. He'll find the hut warm and comfortable inside, and crammed full with little trinkets and keepsakes which Hijikata has reverently left in their place.]

Good question. It better be an illusion, because otherwise that's got to be illegal.

[Never mind all the smoke-and-mirrors effects they were subjected to during Celliwig's trials! He looks around... the only dim light is coming from the illuminated blue fish tanks, so it's not easy to make out anything else. As they investigate the perimeter further, though, it quickly becomes clear that the walkway abruptly ends right around the curve in either direction, as if this were just a small segment that someone took out of an aquarium complex.

There's a painting on either of the otherwise blank walls blocking their path, one depicting a rainy cobble-stone alley dimly lit by old-fashioned streetlights, the other a dusty, cobweb-covered attic. The rain in the first painting is visibly falling, and a pair of spiders are actively weaving their webs in opposite corners of the latter one.]

...

Well, ladies first. Where do you want to go?

[Of course there's also the option of going back to where they came from in hopes that the oarfish and the earthquake will be gone, but climbing back into the kayak in the piranha tank might be a somewhat shaky undertaking.]

I think we can keep the dolls anyway. We just have to show them to prove that we went searching for them, then we get the token, and that we can exchange for the glasses.

[They should move on to look for a second doll, but...]

Why don't you need glasses? What do you currently drink from?

[This is bothering him!!]

[It's all good. He's still got circulation. Gloves are good at keeping some space.]

Haha, you'll have to be careful next time! I picked up on teleporting! [Which, finally, but being dizzy did not help that first pop.] Also, like I'd draw my weapons on you; that's too dangerous in a small...!

[Zidane's eyes snap shut in reflex to the water and his hair, usually standing up, is suddenly a curtain over his face. Don't mind him not waiting until they're out to shake his head.]
