🧙 WHO: Lucy and Soundwave
⚔️️ WHAT: Reunion and After the Storm
🕒 WHEN: A few days after Lucy arrives in the city
🗺️ WHERE: Camelot
⚠️ WARNINGS: None yet, but will add if necessary.
[At first, shoveling snow didn't sound too hard, until Lucy began to feel a soreness in her hands. She wasn't used to doing such manual labor since her original powers had allowed her to interact with her surroundings without having to physically touch anything. Even with the gloves, she had a feeling that there would be blisters on both hands once she was done. Great, just great... But she only huffed in annoyance and continued, because she needed all the gold she could get to make sure her two dogs were fed. At least she'd be able to blow off some steam while cleaning up the snow.
There were plenty of things for Lucy to be annoyed about. First, she'd been taken away from a world that she intended to make her permanent home. Second, of course this just had to happen right before she was about to return to her own world to take care of some final business. And third, she was separated from her friends once more. It was as though she were a doll that kept being plucked from one play set to another, powerless to stay where it would like. Lucy let out an agitated huff and tried to shovel faster, only to find herself slowed down by the weight of the snow she piled up her shovel with, pissing her off even more. With a loud "urgh!" she dropped her shovel and kicked at some snow on the ground. However, the way she turned allowed her to spot someone familiar.]
S-Soundwave?
[The name slipped from her lips before she could stop herself, because for all she knew, it could have been a case of mistaken identity, or her just seeing things. But no. The figure looked solidly real.
Lucy's horns and most of her pink hair were hidden by a winter hood, but with the way she was currently turned, her face was clearly visible.]

As of right now, he's taken a quest for the gold. Soundwave's figure would be difficult to miss even in the snow, still the seven feet tall mech. If he had his telepathy, he could've realized Lucy sooner as he shovels the pile of snow, silently doing the labour. It's the familiar voice saying his name that has him slowly turns towards the source, and it's a voice he couldn't possibly forget.]
Kae... Lucy?
[He remembers not to use her actual name in public, correcting himself in the middle of it. But regardless, even with his surprised expression hidden behind the faceplate and visor, his body freezes when he sees Lucy's face, shocked. Dropping the shovel, he slowly steps towards her and his hands reach for her cheeks, pressing her face gently, wanting to make sure what he's seeing before is real... though, with the weather and him being metallic, his touch is likely going to be cold.]
You're here...
no subject
Yes, and so are you. I'm just so glad you remember me. I'm not sure how I would've reacted if you didn't.
[Back in Lunatia, she'd heard whispers here and there of how people's memories may become messed up with inter-dimensional travel. She withdraws her hands, but only so she can give him a nice, big hug--or at least, as best as she can wrap her arms around him, no longer caring about the cold. After a few moments, she pulls away so she can look up at him and ask:]
How long have you been here? Or did you recently arrive as well? I didn't see you at the cliffs when I first arrived.
no subject
[Nice to see that both her hands are back... If he weren't feeling a little emotional from the reunion, he would care about her hugging his cold metallic frame, since this place doesn't have what made Lunatia a unique world. If there was moonlacing, the warmth from their touch would ward off the cold. And speaking of moonlacing, it's... actually odd to no longer feel the usual flow. He's used to it that it briefly surprised him when he doesn't feel more from the hug.
But still, just because that's missing, it doesn't mean that he's refusing a hug from a dear friend. His own arms wrap around her, holding for the few moments, and then places his hands over her shoulders as she pulls away.]
Nearly a month, I believe. Hours after I see everyone off Lunatia, I was... suddenly dropped here. Even though, I wasn't anywhere near the portal...

[All this traveling between worlds and how it works can get so confusing, especially when considering that she's met people from different time periods. It makes her head hurt if she thinks too hard about it, which is why Kaede just shrugs.]
Well, at least we're not alone in this new world. I believe that's the more important take away. I'm glad I found you, Soundwave. Nyuu will be happy too, once she sees the note I'm going to write to her.
[Another smile.]

He's just happy to see the girls are here in this world.]
I believe there are others from Lunatia brought to this world, as well, but you are the first person I know to have arrived here... Mm, I would like to see Nyuu again soon.
[His hand pats the top of Kaede's hood.]
I suppose we can both settle down in this world in the meantime. [If they are allowed to stay here permanently] Unless you prefer to be back in Lunatia?

[She almost forgot about what else came through with her.]
Two of my books came through as well, Soundwave. The anthology of stories by Hans Christian Andersen and Watership Down. So, me and Nyuu will still be able to read to you.
[Not that they wouldn't read anything from Camelot, but it would be nice to read something they were more familiar with so they could better explain it to Soundwave.]
I still have my mermaid tattoo, too.
[She can't show it to him now due to the cold, but it's there, and for that Lucy is grateful. She would have been annoyed if she had to get it redone.]

[One that may be obvious to her is that he lost his shoulder mounted missile pod. Although he doesn't use it as much anymore, except during emergencies, it was a part of him for so long that he feels... incomplete without it. He's still trying to get over that, along with several of his missing functions.]
I can't seem to materialize my holoavatar anymore, and I lost my powers. [He was told that everyone else's powers are voided here. He wouldn't be surprised if Kaede lost hers, too.]
It's a shame that I no longer have access to my hologenerator. I can't lay my head on your lap while listening to you reading the stories anymore. [He's being only a quarter serious about laying on her lap. Though he does like for her to read him stories again like before.]
no subject
But yes, I've also lost my powers. I can't use my vectors anymore. Although, I guess that's kind of a good thing considering what happened the last time I used them.
[The memory of the bloody stump flashes through her mind, making her grasp her once-missing-hand with the opposite one.]
Still, I feel so naked without them. I want to be able to protect myself and my friends who are here. I know we have new magic to replace what we lost, but it's going to take time for me to get better at using it. What if something dangerous comes up before I've mastered my magic? I might not be strong enough to protect anyone...
[And that was one of the things she dreaded most--not being strong enough when she needed to be. To this day, she believes that's why she wasn't able to save her first puppy or Aiko. What if history repeated itself with her new friends now that she lacked the powers she'd grown so used to?]
no subject
The same could be said for Kaede's powers. The good thing about it is that her wellbeing won't be in danger from using her own powers anymore.]
I understand your worries.
[His hand reaches for both her hands, squeezing them lighly]
But... All we could do now is focusing on learning our new powers. It'll take time, like you said, but we'll reach that point where we are able to protect, eventually. It is best that you do not let that worry weighed too much in your head or think about hypothetical dangers. Otherwise, it might affect your training.
no subject
Yeah, you're right... Besides, I've already taken some steps to prepare for adjusting to life without my vectors. I've asked a blacksmith to make some armor and a dagger, and another person [or mouse, rather] to teach me what he knows about swordplay. Been thinking about asking Noiz if he could teach me to fight with my fists. That's all I can do, until I learn how to transform into stronger animals.
[She just hopes that Nyuu doesn't shy away from it all. She needs to be able to protect herself too. Kaede has stressed the importance of that through their notes.
She rests her hands atop Soundwave's, smiling up at him sadly.]
I am going to miss your avatar, though. It made holding hands [and other things] easier, but--that doesn't mean I can't continue to do such things with you. Maybe when me or Nyuu read to you, you could just lay down your head on the ground, close to my lap?
[Of course it wouldn't be the same, but close enough?]
no subject
[Well, if Nyuu needed more convincing, Soundwave would stress the same thing to her. He knows she's an innocent person who wouldn't harm someone, but that alone isn't going to protect her from danger.]
Close enough. Or perhaps, you or Nyuu could sit on my lap. [He had to pause after realizing what he proposed there in his own voice. Lunatia really had skewed his perceptions, huh.] Ah... and like you said, it doesn't prevent us to continue what we've done before. The only difference is that I'm not as... fleshy as you are and about the same height. And perhaps some things may be difficult to do.
[Kissing would be one. It's the one thing he's going to miss doing with her, that's for sure. But then again, he had someone gave him a passionate kiss to his faceplate anyway, so it could be... possible. He's not exactly sure how Marie did and enjoyed the experience, but it happened]
no subject
I wouldn't mind sitting in your lap, and I don't think Nyuu would either, so we could do that too.
[She gives him a reassuring smile.]
It will be different, but me and Nyuu will adjust as we're doing with everything else. You're still you, Soundwave, so you not having access to your holoavatar won't make such things any less enjoyable.
[In fact...
A small blush colors her cheeks.]
Would it be alright if I gave you kiss now? Just a small one.
no subject
Unexpected, but his vents soon huff out air, slightly amused by her. It was silly of her to ask if he's alright with it. Of course he is. He lowers himself down on his knees, so that they're on equal eye level and able to reach for his face.]
I think you already know the answer to that.
no subject
You literally steam up when you're flustered? That's adorable.
[Kaede is one of the few people who would call Soundwave, even with his metallic body, "adorable." (Nyuu would too if given the chance.)
Part of the reason behind her question was to get him closer to her height level, since she's too short to reach him while he's standing at full height. She nods in acknowledgement before leaning in to peck at where his cheek would be if he had his holoavatar, then another where his lips would have been. When she pulls away, she flashes him another smile.]
no subject
That feels... Nice. Really nice.
[He can't return her smile with one of his own this way, but he can do something else entirely. Standing back up to his full height, Soundwave scoops her off the ground and embrace in a gentle hug, mindful to not make her uncomfortable or hurt her in any way.
They had work to do here, but nobody's here to stop them anyways. ]
I've missed you...
no subject
I've missed you too.
[Kaede just lets him hold her while she snuggles against him with her hug, quietly. After a few moments, she looks up at him.]
Shall we get back to work? We wouldn't want to lose the gold from this job.
no subject
He doesn't realize for how long he's been holding her up for, so it was good that she speaks up about going back to work, otherwise they might just stayed like this for longer.]
Yes, let's get back to work.
[Nodding, he sets her feet back onto the ground, and then leans in again to give us one last surprise nuzzle. Satisfied, he grabs his own shovel and starts working again.]
