[This was not going well. It was absolute bedlam out here as everyone threw what they could at the dragon. Some were trying to subdue it. Others were trying to kill it. But not only were the camps firmly split, the lack of a coordinated defense or offense was turning this into a massacre.]
[Darin was no stranger to battle or death. He’d seen far more than he cared for and had been trained by knights enough to know that this was just a killing field. More people were going to die before this got better.]
[He did his best to heal whoever he could, and redoubled his efforts to try and coordinate some kind of counter to the dragon’s rampage. But he was out there alone. He wasn’t a leader or a great hero.]
[The sound of intense battle catches his attention. Someone was going toe-to-toe with the dragon and was giving off an aura that made Darin’s blood run cold. He’d never felt this particular power…but he’d felt something like it before. And whatever it was, there was no way it was good.]
[He pivots and sprints in the direction of the battle and skids to a stop as he watches Hawk unleashing a torrent of strikes that would fell just about anything he’d ever known. How in the hell was he doing that?! And how was he trading blows with a dragon and still going?]
[A chilling thought strikes him. But he couldn’t confirm it yet. For now, he braves the edge of the collective battle zone to try and intercede.]
