A. A Sheepish Request [Shear Determination - Drake]

[Drake Mallard is ready to undergo some quests! And the first one he chooses seems simple enough. Just shear some sheep! A... fire-breathing sheep. He doesn't have much experience with this, but how hard could it be?

Armed with a blade for shearing, he starts to approach the sheep with his partner.]

It's... easy, right? Nice, quick and easy, right? [He better hope that his own nervousness doesn't make the sheep too nervous too...!]

B. A Knight to Remember [Hot Knights - "Howard"]

[This request seems a bit more risque than his usual work! But still, there's someone to be saved, and he's here to do the saving. He decides to go undercover to complete the work. So he puts on a rental suit and tries to slick back his hair... feathers... hair-feathers, whatever they are. Once at the club, he's quickly weirded out by seeing all these scantily-clad humans. Regardless, he tries to act natural as he makes his way to the bar and introduces himself.]

The name's... Howard. [A beat.] Howard, uh, McDuck. That's right! [He snaps his fingers, ordering a drink.] I'll have it shaken, then stirred!

[There could be someone else nearby - either someone along with him on this quest or is running into him while doing his separately!]

C. Duck Flick [Cult Classic - Darkwing]

[This feels like a quest he absolutely cannot overlook. As a crimefighter, this is one eccentric and dangerous villain who needs to be taken down! And as an actor, he feels like he has the know-how to corner this villain! And so, in the guise of Darkwing Duck, he finds someone to act out a movie scene with.]

...Okay. Are you ready for this?

[ Minako is here to help.

And by 'help', I mean that she is standing far, far away from these sheep - at a spot that she hopes is far beyond the potential zone where firey breath could be hitting. ]

Be careful!

[ She shouts, trying to cover for the distance with the volume of her voice.. but that sure is making the sheep Drake is approaching only look more and more startled by the moment. ]

It could breathe fire on you!

[ She is indeed helping. ]

[flapsin]

[She... is being so, so helpful. He can't imagine someone being more helpful than she is right now!

He shoots a look back at her and gives a startled whisper.]

Don't you think I know that! C-calm down Minako, you're only going to upset it more!

[The sheep is looking very unsure. Is that a little steam coming from its mouth? Still, Drake cautiously tip-toes closer.]

It's okay! Everything's gonna be... okay...!

[reloves]

I don't think you're doing it the right way!

[ She's like the world's worst and loudest heckler during a comedy performance right now.

Which might be a bit of an ego dent in and of itself, but in this precarious situation, it's not only just upsetting, it's also plain dangerous. Maybe it's that she's just not able to see the steam from where she's standing - she is a distance away, after all.. ]

[flapsin]

[He turns back and hisses a whisper at her.]

You're not helping! Just let me take care of this, Minak-

[He's cut off as a jet of flame zips right past his side.]

-ooooOOOOOHHHH NO!

[Time for some mindless running and flailing, while the frightened sheep burps up some more flames!]

[reloves]

[ At least it's not like Minako is totally unconcerned here. The moment she sees that flame shoot so close to him, she lets out a shriek, and she's hopping the fence she was hiding behind to run over towards where Drake is. ]

Are you okay?! Did it get you?!

[ Granted, he does not.. look like he's on fire, but you never know! ]

[flapsin]

I'm fine, I'm fine! I hope. I'm not on fire, right? Right?? [The left side of his clothing is actually scorched. But aside from that, he's not on fire. The sheep is now in a full-on panic, though, and spitting out flames in random directions.]

W-we just have to be careful and remain calm, Minako! Remain calm!!

[reloves]

Okay, hold on..!

[ Not that she's going to calm herself down. She's pretty sure she won't be able to get fully calm while that sheep is going around like some incredibly fluffy flamethrower. In her panic she even forgets to answer his question about whether he's on fire or not - sorry, Drake, this is the reality you have to live in now!

But Minako does try to breathe at least a little more even. Trying to focus, trying to remember how to use the little of her power she's been able to train with-- though it first comes out the wrong way, beams of light unintentionally shooting from her hands - you better dodge, Drake!

But then, a few moments later, she finally seems to manage to do what she was planning on doing. A small dome made out of light forms above the sheep. It certainly doesn't take away its panic, but at least it seems to contain its firey attacks for now. ]

Hurry and try to calm it down from the outside, I don't know for how long I can hold this..!

[flapsin]

[Drake helps as he ducks under one of the beams of light. No friendly fire here! And he watches in wonder as the dome comes together.]

Of course. Light magic! That's the key. Now leave it to me!

[With that, Drake approaches the light dome and waves meekly.]

Hey there. Hi! Everything's going to be alright, okay?

[With that, he focuses his own light magic - to create the illusion of a giant sheep! One that looks powerful, but caring. He then tried to lip synch the giant illusion sheep with his words.]

You can calm down now! I'll keep you safe. All will be well.

[reloves]

[ Talk about creative uses of light magic. Minako didn't even think of that one yet - perhaps because she's so used to trying to use light magic in the way she's used to her own magic back home.. Hence why the dome idea comes so much easier to her than the light illusion idea.

She keeps an eye though on it all. Only when the sheep seems to calm down a little at the sight of the illusion does she finally let the light dome down - and even then it's a very slow process. Just in case it starts blasting fire all over the place again.

Thankfully it seems like they're safe for now though. ]

.. Phew, I think it's done having its fit.

The curse continues... it's all good!

[flapsin]

Hoo boy.

[Drake sighs as relaxes himself, now that the sheep is calmed down. He also slowly makes the giant sheep illusion disappear.]

Okay, now take two. Let's try to shave this sheep and not get it all fired up this time!

[reloves]

Maybe one of us should distract it, while the other one is doing the work?

[ Then they might get lucky and not have the sheep realise what's happening to it.. It's not like there's anything to get upset about when it doesn't know that the shaving is happening!

Though that does leave the important question of who should do what here, huh. ]

[flapsin]

Good thinking. Now I know just how to approach this!

[He folds his arms confidently, while conjuring a ball of light in the palm of his hand.]

You just saw my light magic in action, so you now know that I'm a master of illusions! I'll keep our wooly ward mesmerized by my masterful mirages, while you make the director's cut! How's that sound?

[reloves]

[ Usually Minako would protest to the idea that she can't be the master of illusions - despite.. not really being as good at the whole light illusion - but she can't really deny the display he showed just now. It was really effective.

So if not just for the sake of being efficient here, Minako figures it's better to go along with the plan he's presenting. She nods.

.. though there's still one problem. ]

You know, I've.. never shaven a sheep before. [ Is this a common skill this place just expects them to have?! ]

[flapsin]

[His skills must be impressive, if even Minako's feeling a bit sheepish in contrast.]

...Oh. [His face droops as she brings that up.] Well, it's not too hard. You just run the blade along its wool, and be careful not to bring the blade too close to the skin. Does that sound doable to you? Or should we switch?

[reloves]

I guess I can try..

[ That's Minako's attitude to most things, anyway. She's holding back a little since this is a potentially dangerous situation if the sheep were to freak out again, but she's never been the type to shy away from at the very least giving something a try.

But she lets out a short, huffy breath, and then quickly adds-- ]

Don't blame me though if something goes wrong!

[ You know she's inexperienced now, Drake! That means it's on your hands too if something bad happens, since you let it happen that way! ]

[flapsin]

I- I'm not about to play the blame game! I'm really more just hoping that nothing goes wrong at all...

[He says that with a little laugh as he tries to reassure her. It won't help at all if she's so strung up! In any case, they can't put this off forever.]

Now, prepare to witness a dazzling display...!

[With that, Drake focuses his magic and makes light projections of other similar sheep around near the original one, in order to make it feel more comfortable among larger numbers!]

[reloves]

[ See, the good thing about these light projections is that it's still really easy to tell the real sheep from the fake ones, or Minako would have an even bigger problem here. Because she has to turn for a moment to grab the shearing tools, and by the time she looks back over at the sheep, it's surrounded by the other fake ones.

But since the real one is so recognizable, it's not too hard to step between the illusions until she's next to the sheep again, and then just.. carefully move the equipment into its wooly coat.

Does Minako look focused? Yes. But perhaps a bit too focused, because she's realising how easy it would be to screw up here and make Drake receive a blast of fire to the face. So she's focused in that near-childish sort of way - a frown on her face, the tip of her tongue almost sticking out between her teeth a little while she focuses.

And it does seem to work in the sense that the sheep has no idea what's happening behind it, but it starting to look a little confused, the more it looks at the sheep around it, as if it's slowly catching up to something.. Quick, Drake, time for a different trick! ]

[flapsin]

[He knew he could trust Minako to find her way to the real one! He watches as she gets to work, a little bit nervous. He did make the right choice by leaving this up to Minako, right? While keeping up his projection, he tries to mutter words of encouragement towards her.]

There you go... Easy does it... Keep it up...

[But he soon realizes that he has work to do on his side as well. That sheep sure looks like it's starting to put things together, so it's time to pull a different wool out over its eyes!

With that, Drake makes a new projection to keep the sheep captivated - and entertained! Now, he makes a bipedal sheep wearing a purple cape that appears to be perfectly juggling a trio of balls. A perfect, practically hypnotic motion to capture the sheep's attention!]

[reloves]

[ Minako is definitely still shearing the sheep.

Still focused. Still being careful.

But even with all of that going on, the moment she notices this specific illusion, she can't help but throw a temporary gaze in Drake's direction.

It's very much a 'what even is that??' sort of gaze. It doesn't even need the words to be audibly spoken. ]

[flapsin]

[It's fine, this is fine. This is the plan and it's working!

Drake keeps up the juggling illusion. As she gives him her look, he gives her one that seems to be saying that this is fine, everything's going according to plan! He then flashes her a thumbs up to encourage her to keep going!]

[reloves]

[ Okay, dude. If you say so. She is trusting you here!

Especially since Minako has no idea how the sheep is reacting to the illusion. Sure, she can tell whether it's keeping still or starting to move, but she can't see its face from where she's working on getting the wool off this thing, so she has no idea whether it even likes the illusions or not. That's all on his shoulders right now. ]

Sheesh, why is there so much of this stuff.. [ At least Minako is sensible enough to mumble this, rather than say it too loudly and startle the sheep. But still - there's so much wool! And this is just one sheep! She's pretty sure she's only halfway through this one, and there's already so much wool all over the ground around her feet.. ]

[flapsin]

[He feels like his shoulders are the place to be right now! So far, the sheep does seem to be mesmerized by the juggling motions and eating out of the palm of his hand. Of course, he's still not completely sure how long he'll be able to keep the sheep captivated. He likes to think the answer could be forever!

He spares glances towards Minako at the same time, monitoring her progress. Halfway there! He flashes another thumbs up towards her.]

There you go. Keep it going, keep it going...

[reloves]

My arms are getting tired.

[ Now she's just whining.

Granted, it's a bit of valid whining, since she is working hard over here. But apparently unless it's a total emergency, Minako is incapable of working without at least whining a little bit. Is this truly the Grand Purpose they were brought to this place for? To help with sheep shearing? ]

Next time they need to give us something more fun to do. [ Or at least something more worthwhile than this. ]

[flapsin]

Better tired than fired. [He gently chides, with a little chuckle.]

I'd suggest switching places, but I think that would be pretty precarious right now. And you're getting so close... just finish this, and hopefully next month will be bring some more exciting quests!

[reloves]

[ Is that the only hope she has right now? Just continuing to shear sheep, and then hoping next month won't involve milking dangerous cows or something like that?! ]

What do they think I am, some sort of farmer? [ Yes, she's still grumbling. But at least she's slowly getting closer and closer to being done. Only the last pieces of wool to go now..! ] If they want to kidnap beautiful and cute girls like me to this place, they need to give me something appropriate to do for a beautiful and cute girl!
