Party. 15th. 9pm. Phoenix Roost. Wear what you want. Bring who you want.

( yeah, that's about all the details you're getting. so why not grab a friend, a significant other, or your worst enemy, and find out what's going on?

the Phoenix Roost is as it ever is, except for the fact that the only people there have heard about this party in one way or another. there's nothing to suggest that this party is for reasons other than Kate simply wanting to host one, but if you're here, you might know her well enough to guess that to be untrue.

but, hey, does that matter? there's alcohol flowing freely and music playing, so grab a drink, talk to a stranger, make bad choices! just try to avoid murder for a night, thank you. )

[ kate will hear no objections from izō about being called over. she'll also get a bit more than that given the pair of black, triangular dog ears that sit perked up atop his head. they're somewhat more noticeable than they might be otherwise; the particular enchantments that turn his hair long and purple don't seem to extend to the ears that aren't supposed to be there, so they remain the same shade as his natural hair colour.

additionally, there is also the pesky business of the fluffy tail that he has to match. izō's had to adjust and tie his obi a little differently to accommodate it, but that isn't the worst of it. the worst part is that it wags. at least with a few drinks in him already, he doesn't care as much about the fact that that's happening. ]

[ that risk? he's taking it. probably doesn't even think anything of it as much as he's just running his mouth. izō pulls the one sword at his hip free and sets it on the table — still in its sheathe, of course — and then sits down. normally, he'd have two swords, but he doesn't seem concerned at all to be missing one of them. of the pair, this one is also the shorter wakizashi. it being out on the table is no threat either, he just didn't want it banging into things sticking out of his belt as it was. ]

Or ya can say no. Probably ain't gonna remember askin' ya at some point.

( all these animal features fucking suck. though Kate's cat ears and tail have both had the common courtesy to be relatively sleek looking things instead of the fluffy thing on Izo's ass.

the drinks have left Kate somewhat relaxed, her chin propped in a hand and the grey tail flicking lazily from side to side, though the picture of feline contentment is shattered by dilating pupils and brows furrowing together at the question. it's not like it's the end of the world to tell people, but the congratulations and fuss that come with birthdays stopped being fun when she was like, ten. )

[ birthday celebrations are kind of a new concept for him. in izō's experience, everyone just collectively aged on the new year, so he doesn't really understand the fuss. plus, counting age is pointless as a servant. ]

Ainsworth isn't here, though, so she has to create her own normalcy. )

( the last word is important! and, you know what, she hasn't got a clue either and the thought of trying to decipher it gives her the kind of headache they need more alcohol to cure. so! more booze, bartender.

dead things should stay dead. not come back as ghosts. or as apparently fully living beings. but thankfully, she's still sober enough, and (by Kate's standards) cheerful enough to know better than to say that right now.
