Under the cover of the smoke, he veers away just as Bakugou wants - but the spikes he has left behind remain to force the boys into careful progress.
There aren't any more undead bodies at least. The Ascian isn't so accomplished yet that he can force them out of the ground anywhere he pleases. So he seeks out a place to crouch and hide, hoping the two boys will give up their search so he can return home.
