“Actually the pink puffball is the familiar I got upon arriving here in November of last year, while the owl was my pet and friend from home who showed up two months ago,” Harry answers her question.

Technically, Hedwig is his familiar at home but the way familiars function back in his world is different from how familiars in Avalon work and she had already died by the time he was dragged into the world. Time is very complicated in Avalon as he found out when Hedwig came back to him at the Red Spring’s training grounds.

“To be fair, my owl friend had died by the time I came here, and then she came back to me months after,” he explains further, “She was hit by a killing spell while we were trying to get to a friend’s home before I came here.”
