🛡️ SHIELD SUMMER FEVER! 🛡️ - OPEN

[Darin always felt bad for the people who could get sick. Back home, his powers prevented him from falling ill, even to such banal things as a summer cold. But he did have experience as a gofer for his town's doctor, as well as doing errands and chores for the people who fell ill. So, this job was right up his alley.]

[One thing he knew for sure, when you're under the weather, nothing beats a good laugh.]

[With the trusty use of the new EmphaSize spell he nabbed from the traders, you'll find him waddling around with huge, oversized feet as he goes from room to room delivering flowers, teddy bears, medicine, fruit baskets, you name it. If he happens to be entering a kid's room, he'll make a big show of his giant, floppy feet. If its an elderly person's room, he'll sit with them for awhile and ask them about their day or let them ramble on.]

[But it's likely leaving one of the rooms is when you'll bump into Darin. Or trip over his enormous, floppy feet.]

Oh, hey! Easy there! You okay? Sorry, I should get a signal or something for these things...

🗡️ LAVAFT BEHIND 🗡️ - OPEN

[This seemed like a pretty easy task, all things considered. Everyone knew slimes were low-level monsters, even if they had the same temperature as magma. And Darin worked professionally around molten metal all day. If there was anyone who could handle this task, it was him.]

[Though, having someone along in case things went awry was a good idea too. Especially since his blood magic wouldn't really do him much good here.]

[So back to the Diamond Falls Darin goes. He's got a pickax and some mining tools in a pack slung over his shoulder examining the hardened rock for any sign of the slime.]

So, since I know how my luck goes, what's the plan for when we free this thing and it immediately attacks us with the fury of a particularly cranky volcano?

AT THE FORGE - OPEN

[With the reconstruction from his rampage doing well, Darin's back at the forge doing what he loves. He might be down an apprentice, but that hasn't stopped him from taking orders and commissions from those who seek him out! Got something you want Darin to make? His consultations are always free so come on in! Got some gear that needs mending or ideas you want to pitch? Maybe you just need some work? Darin's door is always open! When you step in, you'll likely see him working on something or tidying the place up. If there's one thing Darin can't stand, it's a messy forge! So come on in and let's get to work!]

BAR CRAWL - CLOSED TO KATE

[It's been about a month since he tore through Camelot as a terrifying, familiar-fused monster. Barring his (and everyone else's jaunt) to Celliwig, Darin had largely avoided going into town. And when he did, he wore a cloak with a hood that concealed his hair.]

[Now, a month later and the reconstruction mostly complete, Darin is feeling a little more hopeful that maybe he won't be kicked out of town if he decides to hit a bar for a drink or two. He's still wearing his cloak, but when he settles in at the 'In For a Pound' pub, he slowly pulls his hood back to reveal his very obvious blue mane of hair. He gets a few looks, some of which he's not too thrilled with, but orders a drink and sits at the bar.]

[Unfortunately, the patrons on either side of him scoot away. Fortunately, that leaves space should anyone decide they want to pull up a stool and join him.]

MY DINNER WITH DARIN - CLOSED TO ALLURA

[So, it really only dawned on Darin about a day or so before the date that he and Allura had chosen for dinner that this might actually be a...you know. A date. In a panic, he considered calling her to clarify that this wasn't a date...but what if she wanted it to be a date? What if he tried to clarify and they called the whole thing off? That would be awful! And he'd feel terrible too! She was really looking forward to it! But did that mean she was looking forward to a date with him?]

[No, that couldn't be it.]

[Could it?]

[So, after spending a day laying on the floor and staring at the ceiling weighing his options, he decided that, you know what? He could do this! Even if it was a date! Hell, it was only a date! He could handle that! Even though he'd never been on a date before, much less with someone who was so strikingly beautiful and had spent the last six months worming her way into his every though— NOT IMPORTANT!]

[And so, it was the evening of the big-but-maybe-not date. He'd agonized over whether or not he should dress up and finally he decided on an off-white polo shirt with pink piping around the collar and sleeves (hey, pink goes good with blue, alright?), and some tan slacks. With a menu all set (he did promise it would be an amazing meal) he sets out to begin cooking, listening intently for the door to the forge to open so he could go up and greet her.]

[Everything was set for the evening. Nothing could possibly go wrong, right?]

Yeah, and I got into a punch up with my super-powered brother after he leveled a city. I get it that it's a slime, I'd just rather be prepared.

[Darin scans the terrain.]

Alright, let's find this little bugger.

Shit like this makes me miss Dolly's gift to see monsters through walls and rock.

[So yeah, without Third Eye, all he's got is trying to find spots where it looks like something could be under the hardened magma. He sees a spot that looks a bit off from the rest. Like there's a lump under the hardened rock when the magma should have melted anything in its path.]

What about that spot?

Hmm...worth a shot.

[Darin starts to head over to check it out.]

So, you've done a lot of monster hunting then? What's the craziest thing you've ever fought?

[Hawk will just keep an eye out for other spots that may be it or the monster deciding to attack. Had he been alone, his plan was to melt the rock again with elemental magic, but that isn't going to work well with someone using tools.

But he is still paying attention to what Darin is saying.]

The two-headed dragon. One head was in the normal spot, one was where the creature's ass should be. Could spit plenty of fire from both heads too. How such a thing could exist in nature is beyond my understanding.

...Biologically that makes no sense. Either you've got a crazy god making random crap in your world or someone's doing ridiculous experiments.

Must have been a trip to fight!

[Darin drops to a crouch to examine the patch of hardened magma, narrowing his eyes.]

...Yeah. Yeah, it's here. I can hear a pulse or...whatever it is a slime has. With my blood magic. Whatever, anyway!

[He stands and hoists the pickax.]

I'm gonna use a strength buff and crack this baby wide open. You get your ice barrier ready to give us some distance.

You ready to do this thing?

Oh it was a trip to fight, but definitely not one of the experiments.

[Oops on letting that slip that he's even aware of experiments done with living creatures. But hey that can be asked about later for some really crazy shit.]

Oh it will be ready, just can't put it up until you're done without risking breaking your pickaxe. [Or it flying away, it is a mix of elemental and kinetic magic after all and that's a tricky mix to work with. Hawk's also got his swords ready just in case, though he thinks that elemental magic overall will be far more useful here.]

[Darin's arms crackle with magical energy as he doubles up on the strength buffs. If this wasn't one of his pickaxes, he wouldn't expect the thing to survive.]

[He grips the tool with both arms, now surging with power and hoists it over his head, then swings his entire body down to split the rock with an earth shattering CRACK]

Wait...'experiments?' What experiments?

[That might be an interesting line of questioning if not for the fact that a literal geyser of magma wasn't erupting from the split rock. A geyser that quickly congeals into more of a wave that's about to descend on Darin.]

HAWK! HAWKHAWKHAWKHAWKHAWKHAWKHAWKHAWKHAWK!!!!

[Don't worry Darin, he's got this. A barrier of ice is formed around Darin long before any of that magma even gets too close. Hawk has the same and now he's working on using an ice spell on the geyser itself to cool it down and slow the magma flow. The barrier is formed much like the previous wind barrier but with ice and if Darin moves it will as well, but with that much heat it probably won't last very long.

He's also looking for that damn slime because he sure doesn't want to trap it again. The request didn't say to lead the slime anywhere, just to free it. Once they confirm its free, if all else fails they could run like hell, making use of the boost kinetic magic gives. Hawk also has a Camelot totem handy if they need an even speedier exit.]

Oh thank gods, that was getting scar—

[He won't have to look hard or long for that slime because the base of that ice barrier is melting away. After a moment or two, a jelly like slime oozes through the opening and wiggles to life.]

Huh...it's kind of cute...

[It sure is. Until it vomits a concentrated stream of lava right at them. It narrowly misses Darin, who dodges with a yelp, but at that distance the heat alone is enough to ignite his shirt.]

AH!! GODS DAMN YOU LITTLE BASTARD!!

[He quickly starts patting the fire out while healing the burns, leaving him bare chested in what looks like a tattered and singed shawl.]

I think we pissed it off, Hawk!

[Hawk is about to make a comment about being wary of cute monsters when the slime attacks and Darin loses his shirt. Hawk just can't help laughing hysterically at this.]

Damn, they sure don't make shirts like they used to.

[However, despite his laughing, Hawk is using more ice to cool down that lava in hopes that it doesn't get close to him. However, he's not quite able to do that and it does melt his barrier as well. The bottom of his coat gets ignited and Hawk has to quickly throw it off. He's still got a bright blue shirt on, though it's long sleeved with a somewhat ruffled edge.

He's making no comment about his coat though. Not like it's a huge deal since whatever he's wearing changes to that when he shifts to Monstrum form. Hawk will just keep up the pressure with ice magic for now. Not like he's going to reach his limit any time soon on how much magic he can use.]

Seems like this slime wants to really end up being a dead little slime. Nothing said that it had to live after we freed it and with it being this close, not sure if it would come with us if I use a totem.

'Like they used to?!' Since when did they make shirts lava proof, Hawk?!

[But now Darin's cranky and armed with a pickax. Maybe if they can stun the little bastard, they can escape and when it wakes up it'll catch up with its pod.]

[Darin bobs and weaves, dodging jets of lava spewed from the slime, zeroing in on one of the spots Hawk had frozen. He winds up, slaps on another strength buff, and slams the pickax into the slime like he was going for a homerun. The force of the strike shatters the metal pickax in Darin's hand and he backpedals quickly.]

[The good news is that it seems the slime is stunned.]

[The bad news? Well, have you ever seen someone who was full take a shot to the stomach? Apparently this shot was powerful enough to make the slime regurgitate...whatever it is that's inside a slime. In this case? A wave of lava.]

Oh come on! Hawk, we gotta gooooooo!

[Darin turns tail and races away from the cascading lava flow, hopefully with Hawk on his heels, completely oblivious to the fact that the proximity to the lava has burned away more of his clothes and is continuing to do so.]

Like you actually got hit with lava.

[But hey joking aside, the idea of getting the hell out of here is probably a good one. While normally Hawk would be all for a good fight, there's a difference between being reckless and being suicidal. That and it would be lame to have beaten so many powerful enemies only to die to a stupid slime.

So once the slime is stunned, he's going to cast a speed buff on both of them as he follows close behind. He's fast enough that likely he'll catch up and pass Darin soon enough. However, at the same time he's also going to be grabbing a totem out of his pack to use to get him and Darin back to Camelot fast.]

Being in proximity still burns!

[Darin is very thankful for that speed boost because things were getting a little too hot for his liking. He watches Hawk fish the totem out of his pack and, honestly? At this point, he didn't care where it took them. Any place was better than here.]

[Which is why he does his best to catch up and grab a hold of Hawk.]

Let's go!

[Hawk will definitely be dodging any attempts at Darin doing grabby hands at him because he's so not into that sort of thing.]

Whoa there. Definitely don't swing that way and this thing doesn't require physical contact.

[But he'll go ahead and use the totem, since it just requires both of them going through at about the same time that should be enough to get them to Camelot's western gate. Lucky for Darin that Hawk made a ton of these and used them as an inventory slot in his pack so they had it as a last ditch escape. However, like Darin his clothing isn't in great shape by now either. Not quite as bad, but definitely showing off the fact that Hawk's the sort to go commando. Whoops.

He could fix that, but would have to switch to human form and change into something and then change back. With him not being too keen on people being able to link the two appearances to one person, he's going to have to get away without being seen.]

[Darin can immediately feel the change in temperature once he and Hawk have passed through, successfully leaving the angry molten slime behind.]

Oh man...that was close. But that breeze feels great.

[It sure does feel great. And it probably looks pretty great too. At least, it does to anyone who might be near the Western Gate when these two pop out with their clothing in tatters. Darin, in particular, is barely covered by smatterings of burned and singed cloth. Whatever burns he's suffered though have completely healed, leaving him a sort of mismatched sight where what's barely left of his clothes look like they went through a furnace and he's perfectly fine.]

[Sweaty, but fine.]

[Hey, some people are into that.]

[But Darin doesn't care. He's not in danger of melting so he's just enjoying the breeze and airing himself out.]

[Alas, poor Mukuro was just on her way back from some training out of town when she saw two people she recognised ping up by the Western gate-

It took her about 0.5 seconds to realise these people were her big brother figure and her crush. And another 0.5 seconds to realise that they were both...um.

Oh.

That was.

What had even happened to their clothes?!]

What- what the Hell- What-

[Just stammering this as she pointed at the- well, all of this- going a bright red as she did so. This was not what she expected to see today!

Whoa...hey, Junko! What are you doing here?

[He...might not realize his current state of dress.]

[Hawk just waves to her as he's looking for a nice alley to go teleport to so he can fix his clothing. Probably should be decent and see if he can find a decent sized scrap of fabric to give Darin to cover up with until he can get back to his forge. While Hawk has no shame, he doesn't exactly like the idea of possibly getting arrested for this. Nothing is more embarrassing than an indecent exposure charge.]

Hey Darin, you do realize that breeze is from the slime deciding our clothes need some ventilation, right?

[And if Darin does look, Hawk's going to take advantage of that and Mukuro's confusion to teleport to an alley he just spotted and fix his clothes up.]

[Darin does in fact look.]

Oh...geez! Uh...sorry, about that, Junko...!

[Darin hurriedly looks for something to cover up with. Not for his sake, of course. He doesn't really look like he cares.

[She's very flustered, giving Hawk and Darin a wave as she focuses on looking at their faces- mentally telling herself don't look down, don't look down.

Thankfully for Hawk, Darin flailing around trying to find something to cover up with at least distracted them both.]

Okay like- you guys- why are you practically naked??

[Good, so Hawk will get to teleport away, change to human form, fix clothing and then change back. Yay for shapeshifting and teleporting making clothing fixes easy. Takes very little time as well, but he's gone for about 30 seconds to a minute and could be noticed. The important thing is that he's now fully clothed again.]

A geode slime decided to puke lava at us. Tried to use ice, that was only partially successful.

Wh— Hawk!? What the hell, man?! Your clothes are back?! You're literally hanging me out to dry here!

[Probably should have chosen a better word than 'hang' huh]

[And that choice of words has Hawk laughing. But he's going to check the packs on his belt and see if he can find a second piece of fabric large enough.]

And now Junko knows just how well hung you are.

[And he finds something. Not the best of things but at least he has a strip of fabric that is long enough to tie around his waist like a towel. He'll toss that towards Darin's head. For now he'll just avoid the topic of how he just did that even if he knows Mukuro is quite aware of how his clothing shifts with appearance. And even if he could share his coat, it wouldn't exactly cover enough.]

[Okay at least Hawk was dressed that was one less thing to fluster her- it would be so much more convinent if she could shift into her Junko disguise that easily, wouldn't it?

But she does groan at the choice of wording.]
