EVENT ✨ The Winter Solstice

QUICK NAV: LOGS ⚔️️ NETWORK ⚔️️ MEMES ⚔️️ OOC ⚔️️ NAVIGATION

This is the event log. Reply with your character's top-level response using the prompts below, or come up with your own related scenario! Totally up to you. You're also welcome to make your own network posts, but we encourage you to keep logs in one place. If you have trouble loading, please click here to view top-level comments only. Please check the plotting post here for more details and questions. The event itself takes place on Dec. 21st.

As the moon rises on the 21st, all non-emergency businesses will be closing early as the Winter Solstice celebrations are of the utmost importance. Those who participated in the ritual will feel the night is different in their very being. Anyone who participated in the Winter Ritual preparations will be immortal for the next 24 hours. No harm may come to them, they will not be affected by the cold, and their magic will be amplified significantly as they are currently a conduit for the world's magic. Everyone, regardless of whether they participated in the preparations or not, is welcome to partake in tonight's festivities as there are many ways in which the Winter Solstice is celebrated.

The most significant event of the night is the Solstice Night Run. If you didn't participate in the ritual, you may be able to get a hit off of someone's Everwarm to participate. At the edge of the City of Camelot, heading into the Brocéliande, characters will be asked to remove their clothing (or if they aren't comfortable with that, change into very light robes provided by local donations) to return as close to a natural state as possible, then run through the forest. As characters run through the forest, despite everything being covered in ice and snow, the woods will begin to come alive. Will-o-wisps sprout out of the snow and shake the frost off, floating in the air to provide lights throughout the forest. The trees seem to move and dance as you pass by, flurries pick up, and even some animals will start running alongside you. It's a celebration for all, as magic flows through your body as becomes part of the forest.

Inevitably, somehow, someway, those participating in the run all end up reaching what seems to be a crack in the ground, slabs of rock surrounding a stream of water flowing through the crack. This is the fairy fountain of Barenton, a crack in the fabric of Avalon that connects its waters to other worlds. Though it's currently unable to connect now due to the time freeze, some of the fairy folk running with you will happily let you know that some of its powers are still in tact-- try sprinkling some water on the stone slab nearby. As the waters trail down the slab and form a puddle on the floor, the drops from your hand will open a vision of a treasured memory. Anyone near you will be able to see it, so only do it if you're willing to share. There are many other uses, but since you're still very new, this is the only one they're willing to share for the moment. Regardless of whether you choose to use that form of magic or not, as you approach the fountain, it will begin to bubble and glow, and lights like an aurora borealis will begin to glow around you as your connection to Avalon deepens. You'll be able to feel the life of the forest, a connectedness to the world you've likely never felt before. Every leaf, the wind, every living being, the magic in the fabric of the world, is a part of you and you are a part of it.

As the night presses on, a large number of fairies begin to form fairy circles, both in the forest and back in the City-- so you needn't have participated in the run to find one. Toadstools and flowers sprout up through the snow that hadn't been there before, forming near-perfect circles in nature. Stepping into one, whether on purpose or on accident, will shrink you down to the pixies' size so you can dance with them, if you promise to keep going for the whole dance. The dance lasts about 20 minutes straight and there don't seem to be any rules besides keep moving around the fairy circle, even if you bump into someone. In the last minute of the dance, pixies will fly above the circle and sprinkle dust over the whole party. Anyone who completed the dance will be returned to their normal size and granted the ability to fly for the duration of the witching hour of 2-3am. You'll be invited to drink with them afterward, if that's your thing, but will not be offended if it isn't.

Not completing the dance despite stepping into their circle, being rude to the pixies, or attempting to stop anyone who is dancing will anger the pixies. Pixies are a tricksy bunch, so you'd be better off avoiding this, but if a character happens to get on their bad side, there are a few different types of pixie curses they may be inflicted with:

Small Soul: They simply won't return you to your normal size. You may need to find some other way to remedy this, or else you may be spending some time quite small. This can be fixed by a person with healing magic and a simple healing spell, as the spell wasn't originally meant to last this long to begin with.

Pixy-led: The pixies will upset your center of gravity for the rest of the night. Though in reality, there's nothing going on, you may have a huge sense of Spinning Vertigo for the next hour or so. Good luck getting home! You may want to find help. The way to break this spell is to put your coat on inside out, so you'll have to find someone willing to share that with you- the pixies might if you promise to give them something good.

Bellbark: Until broken by anti-magic, any time your character hears a bell, they will mentally act like a dog for the next half-hour. This will last beyond the span of the event until your character is able to get their hands on a counter-curse potion, so be wary if you choose this one for your character.
As the night winds down, anyone who had participated in the ritual will find themselves rather suddenly sleepy regardless of where they are and may fall asleep as if under a spell right there out in the snow. They'll wake up normally in the morning, the land having used their slumber as time to finish off its work using you as a conduit. Don't worry, those under the influence of the ritual's effects won't catch cold or anything... though, we can't guarantee anything with those pixie effects-- they weren't really harmful, after all, just irritating. Anyone who fell asleep outside will find that the snow has melted in their area for about 5 feet and bright green plants have started sprouting around them on the ground, some vines growing around their limbs but ultimately nothing that can't be brushed off easily.

It would appear that while it was a permitted act during the Winter Solstice, the fae who may have told you about that little trick with the fountain and the pedestal may not have shared the whole story. As it turns out, the slab that everyone was trickling water onto is a stone known as Merlin's Step. Merlin's Step, when a little bit of water is sprinkled upon it, summons rain. When a lot of people put water on it, it summons a huge thunder storm. It is certain to, as many of the fairies are happy to attest, wash away the freezing snow so they can move about freely during the winter again. Fae often have ulterior motives, even if they're often coupled with good intentions. This may have gone a little beyond their expectations, however, as enough people have done it that the storm has brought about torrential rains and hail, frequent zaps of lightning, and strong winds. Most people are being urged and ushered into cellars throughout the city as the hail has been causing injuries, breaking windows, and the lightning is strong enough that it's been striking the ground frequently. You may end up crammed together in a small, dark room while a storm rages outside with little to do except what's in the cellar-- eat canned foods, play old board games, dust of a.. uh oh, is that a Ouija board? Get creative and have fun with what you think could be in the cellar you end up in.

After what seems like most of the day, the storm is still raging on, but the next moment you find still water, the Lady of the Lake's face shows up, with another woman beside her. The Lady of the Lake's ability to communicate via water is being used to reach everyone at once. The Lady doesn't say anything, once she's got it live, well aware that they're short on time as the lake surface is choppy and dangerous right now. They have a limited time above the surface to speak, so she leaves it to the woman with her.
"It would seem my brethren have gotten carried away treating you all for helping with the ritual. I can put an end to this storm, but there is a cost. You'd do well to learn all magic has one sooner than later. The stronger the magic, the harder it is to stop. Your first lesson in breaking spells follows: In using Merlin's Step, you've awoken his Black Knight. Bring me his sword. Don't bother trying to kill him, he's already beyond that.

Don't be alarmed if you see more than one, dears. The Brocéliande is known to play with its guests when it's in a bad mood."
She smiles as she says it, and the image disappears out of the water. A small whorl forms in the water and a small vial pops out. An attached slip says "Pour me out and drop the sword into the water." for how to deliver the sword to her, as she certainly didn't say who she was. In order to obtain the Black Knight's sword, characters will have to find creative ways to fight an unkillable knight and distract him long enough to steal his sword. Using magic and teamwork is your best bet. Multiple groups of characters can obtain the Black Knight's sword and Morganna won't tell which one is real, as she won't be able to tell until she receives it and is always pleased to see those doing her bidding anyway. As a thanks and an apology, anyone who dares to fight the Black Knight and bring the sword to her will find a pile of fresh, edible mushrooms and herbs wrapped in a cloth on their doorstep the next day. The cloth they're wrapped in has a culinary recipe on it for a lovely mushroom soup. These are from the fairies who encouraged everyone to use the water, not Morganna. Her gift was to stop the storm, leaving the realm glistening as the sun comes out and sparkles against the rain on the ground and small remaining clumps of slush.

[ Of course. She turns her head back to stare at him. ] Would I even notice a difference if ya were?

I don't just don't want to deal with any more magical nonsense today. [ Especially not while they're all trapped down here in an enclosed space for who knows how long. ]

Night Run

[On the list of things Jean didn't expect was definitely a naked night run through the woods. He was glad to discover that being naked was at least partly optional. Even if the light robe still didn't feel like much. Jean shivered as he waited for the run to start, looking around at others there. Definitely avoiding looking anyone naked for too long because he knows he'd be uncomfortable with someone staring.

Jean's just glad Mikasa's not there, because he knows she'd be uncomfortable as hell. Even with the robes on. Heck, he would have skipped if he had realized it was a naked run. But since he was already there and he had the option of using a robe to cover himself.]

So why are we doing this again?

[He asks anyone nearby.]

The Second Ritual

[Jean doesn't have a weapon yet, nor does he feel like his magic would be much use in a fight, so he's taking shelter. He doesn't like the fact he can't fight against the knights, but he knows his limits.

The shelter isn't the most comfortable either, but it's not like he's used to luxury anyway. Besides, if it got too crammed up he could likely turn into a small animal and stay in a corner.

He's mostly watching other people rather than suggesting anything to do. He might need a small nudge.]

Pixie dancing

[Ren is not one to say no to dancing. Especially if it means keeping the pixies satisfied. Dancing makes him feel better anyway, so you can see him smiling as he dances for the duration.

If he happens to bump into someone he offers a hand to hold onto, still moving, to help continue dancing.]

Better not stop... [He winks.]

Witching Hour

[Is it a bird, is it a plane... nah, it's just Ren, flying around with his temporary ability. He smiles as he makes some turns and just takes in the sceneries down below.

When he notices someone he recognizes, he descends down and sort of floats nearby.

Otherwise he can be also called down.]

The Second Ritual

Anyone injured, walk this way!

[Ren has a voice that does goes far away, at least.

He's opted out on staying somewhere he can help anyone who's injured with his magic. While he doesn't have a lot of experience yet, he can at least heal small cuts and bruises. Otherwise he'll either have to ask another healer to help or just wrap wounds.]

I hope I don't catch a flu after all this...

Nah, probably not. Might add a little more excitement to things down here, though.

Night Run

[Sokka isn't always the most traditional type, but he does get where it comes from so he participates in the night run. With the robes on. He's not ashamed of his body, but he's also not keen on showing off that much.

The cold doesn't bother him that much, considering he's lived in the middle of ice and snow his whole life. So he's surprisingly cheerful as he stretches.]

I wonder if there's a reward for being the first wherever this thing leads... or should we run reserving our energy? Important question.

Fairy Circles

[Everything was going really well. Really, he was almost done with his dance. Then he stumbled onto something, falling on his face. Instead of getting up and starting to dancing again, he sat down and kind of tested how his face felt. Which didn't sit well with the pixies.

Sokka abruptly returns back to his own size. It almost feels like he got out of it without a punishment.]

I guess I was scared for nothing...! Silly me.

[He gets up and wow the world spins. It spins so much he falls back down.]

Oh... wow. I must have hit my face harder than I thought.

[Another attempts and now he's leaning on a tree, his head spinning again.]

Oh come on, me.... get it together.

vs. Black Knights

[For this fight, Sokka is bringing both his boomerang and the black sword made our of meteorite. He would definitely like to be able to plan the attack more, but he needed to see the situation first hand before he could do that. An unknown enemy. He's got this.

Sokka marched outside with others, determined to help with the fight. The target may be unkillable, but he was sure they could figure out something to defeat the knight(s).]

Anyone have a plan? I can serve as a distraction or work on a plan with anyone.

I: Solstice Night

[Ignis, being the trained person that he is, doesn't need much time navigating through the forest and reaching the end destination. He does, however, refuse to go completely naked. And while not the type of person to do these things, he seeks more information on everything about this place; if this was the way to do it then so be it.

But after finishing sprinkling water at the stone, a faded memory, very close to him, shapes up. Memory that comes to him whenever Ignis sees him in danger and that keeps him determined, ready to push beyond any boundaries known to Gods or men. The voice of King Regis reaches him, and it is followed by an image of very young Noctis, shyly walking up to him.

Ignis stares at the memory until it dissolves, not noticing if anyone else was looking at it as well, muttering to himself.]

It has been a long time and it is still clear as day...

II: Evacuation from Storm

[After mildly pleasant events from previous days, Ignis didn't expect a torrent of explosive, destructive weather to descend upon them. It felt like Ramuh himself opened the skies and sent lightning down to smite them. Probably the only Astral Ignis doesn't have a beef with.

Still- the weather is dangerous and it is destroying everything in its path and Ignis, along with few others, is helping people get into the underground cellars. Tonbberry, his familiar, is curled up on top of his head, holding his lantern high in the air, giving it all he's got to light up the surroundings in the dark, stormy night for people to find their way to Ignis.

Seeing a person running down the street, he sends them a telepathic message-]

To your left, my friend! Over here, I got you!

[-and offers his hand to grab them before the storm sweeps them both away. He's standing at the entrance of the house under which the cellar with other people is.]

III: Black (K)Night

I will gladly lend you a hand.

[The room is dim and damp from the storm, glass shattered and scattered all over the floor. After hearing the message from Lady of the Lake, Ignis has his suspicions about her ulterior motives (whether she has any or no), but doesn't have much time to debate on it.

First things first- put a stop to this weather at all costs.

He had walked up to the person that seems ready to trek out and steal the sword; Ignis has no elemental magic, like back home, but that doesn't dampen his strategic planning. And he can still fight, magic or no. Still very quick and nimble on his feet and expertly precise and deadly with his daggers, that are sheathed on each side of his hips.]

Still, he had to put his trust in Harry.

Shaking off whatever nervous energy he had, he looked around to see if there were any animals who would be willing to help. Zelda | Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild

[personal profile] sealingpower 2020-12-20 10:23 pm (UTC)(link)
A. Solstice Night Run:
I. Zelda was torn when she heard about the details of the Winter Solstice Celebrations. Given her experience with the Red Springs, the last thing she wanted to do was have more of Avalon see her completely in the nude. Sure, she could wear the light robe but…

She was also well versed in the ways of spiritualism, being raised with a life so devoted to the Goddess Hylia. Therefore, the other issue she was facing was a fear of offending the spirits and other magical beings of the wood. As such, she needed to do this as piously as tradition dictated and return to as close a natural state as possible. No matter how embarrassing it would be.

Zelda could only hope she wouldn’t run into anyone…

The princess stood at the edge of the Brocéliande, a half-unbuttoned shirt the only cloth left covering her bare body. She had been in deliberation for so long that it seemed most of the other participants had moved on. Steeling herself, she took a deep breath, letting it out slowly before allowing the garment to drop.

And immediately picked it back up; quickly shrugging it back on with cheeks flushed. It was too awkward; she couldn’t do it. So, Zelda made her way sheepishly to the donors and requested one of the robes.

At least the cloth felt nice and silky against her skin and it was indeed very light and flowy but the important thing was that it was covering!

She began at a moderate jog, the snow and will-o-wisps picking up and swirling around her, as the trees lit the way. It was rather exhilarating and she couldn’t help but pick up her pace, bursting into a run. The wind in her hair was crisp but not uncomfortable as she had participated in the ritual.

II. But the will-o-wisps and forest dwellers weren’t the only woodland creatures dancing around her. A pair of mischievous pixies joined in the fray, and decided to play a little trick.

Zelda still saw and felt the embrace of the robe’s fabric, however to the eyes of any others it was if it wasn’t there at all!

The princess paused in a clearing, closing her eyes and allowing all of her senses to be consumed by the magic flowing through her.

How long would it be before someone would clue her in to the pixie’s prank?

III. Regardless of whether or not anyone had told Zelda of the nature of the trick, she unfortunately would be unable to break the enchantment without the aid of someone proficient in light magic. Otherwise, it would wear off automatically in the morning or when she removed the robe and redressed.

IV. Eventually she made it to the stream, its jagged slabs of rock surrounding the flowing waters. Suddenly it began to bubble and glow, the illumination of the Aurora Borealis enveloping and rendering her a conduit for all the magic in Avalon.

If anyone were to stumble upon her at this point, they would see a maiden enshrouded by luminance, long blond tresses splayed around her. An wonderous scene indeed!

“Is this how it feels to awaken?” she wondered aloud referring to unlocking the Goddess’ powers.

When the effect faded, fae-folk told her of the magic of the water and the enchantment allowing one to see a treasured memory. Of course, she had to try it. Zelda cupped her hands, drawing up some of the liquid and sprinkled it on the nearby stone slab. The memory that appeared wasn’t exactly what she was expecting though.

"Zelda, my love, all will be well in the end. You can do anything”

Her mother’s words rang out through the clearing, as the picture of a young Zelda in the arms of a regal woman appeared in the pool. The woman had a smile on her lips as she spoke the assurances
.

“Mother…” Zelda breathed, tentatively touching the image with a hand. The feelings she had been keeping locked inside since her mother’s unexpected passing, the emotions she had kept bottled up suddenly welled to the surface as gleaming tears began to fall.

It was all right… there was no one to scold her for not being a ‘steady and valiant princess.’ No reason to keep up appearances of strength. For the first time in her life, it was okay to grieve.

But was she really as alone as she thought?

B. Moonlight Dancing
I. Being that the Great Fairies are so revered in Hyrule, Zelda had to participate in the faire circle dance. It was pretty much a requirement in her mind.

While still in the midst of the Brocéliande Zelda stumbled upon one of the toadstool circles and decided to join in on the revelry, flowers kicking up around her as she steps and twirls. If asked, she will accept any offers to dance, but will be very careful to not break the circle or halt the dance once started.

II. At the conclusion Zelda marveled at the sprinkling of colorful dust before she realized her feet were no longer on the ground. Again, if anyone would like to join her for an exhilarating flight throughout the city and surrounding wilds, she would find that amazing!

III. After the flight effect wore off, Zelda politely accepted the fae spirits, but may have had a little too much as the sights and sounds of the revelry were quite distracting. As with many who have one too many, she may or may not have done or said some pretty strange or embarrassing things while under its influence.

IV. Whether it was from the accidental overindulgence of alcohol or the spell cast at the end of the night, Zelda fell asleep, still outside in the snow. If anyone accompanied her at the time, when they awoke in the morning surrounded by the bright green foliage they found, much to the princess’ mortification something or someone other than the vines was entwined with them. ((Hope y’all like cuddles.))

Platonic or otherwise, Zelda is pretty much gonna die of embarrassment. What is it with this place and its agenda for that? Perhaps it won’t end up being too bad a thing at some point in her stay here?

C. The Second Ritual
I. [Closed to Dust] With the storm starting to rage, Zelda was about to join the others seeking refuge from the torrential rains and lightning when she suddenly remembered that there was someone who most likely wouldn’t think to or may purposely neglect to seek shelter. So, of course she was going to stubbornly drag Dust to one of the safe cellars, before he got himself injured. No matter how she had to persuade him!

II. As cellars are wont to be, the surrounding darkness had the princess on edge, as she was not fond of the shadows for obvious reasons. The booms and strikes outside didn’t make it any better. The fact of not being alone would help a little, but Zelda would also greatly appreciate any comfort or distractions from her fears.

III. Zelda looked on intrigued at the two woman reflected in the pool of water and listened intently to their request.

Tentatively she took up the vial and looked and asked around the cellar to see if anyone would like to join her on the quest for the Black Knights sword. She can’t just let the storm continue to rage after all.

D. Wildcard! Any other interactions or CR your character would like to have with Zelda are greatly encouraged!

((OOC: /looks at everyone’s TLs… then to mine… oof. OK at least I totally got lazy near the end of this with the length of the prompts, but feel free to interact with my Nerdling, awkwardly or otherwise! [Also feel free to tag in and/or continue through any point during these]))

I don’t know about that either, but there is one way to find out. Maybe we would be running reserving energy.

(Another man informs him while he puts on another robe over his mostly bare body (besides a pair of boxer shorts) before the run could begin. His body is a far cry from that of an unusually skinny child from nearly 8 years ago, but it was that not overtly muscular to put lightly. Still, he still finds it difficult to be confident at times.)

I haven’t done this before as well, so I couldn’t be sure of what lies ahead besides trees and snow.

(So far, the Black Knight hasn’t caught Harry just yet, but he knows that there is a good chance that it is possible. Regardless, he is hoping that the Knight will get tuckered out soon enough for another group to take the sword from him.

He quickly glances at 4 loose tree branches nearby and sets them out to hit the Knight on the head in four different directions to get him mixed up while staying low as much as possible beneath the bushes and setting out more rocks to come after the Knight too, with Rose assisting him along the way.

In addition, he has to stay quiet as much as possible or the Knight might find him in his hiding spot, still he mumbles to himself quietly, wondering about how Ken is faring so far.)

I just hope that he is going to be okay out there with the animals.

[ A thunderstorm to cap off a day of running around in a 'as modest as can be considering the circumstances' robe isn't how he expected this solstice to go. Fortunately, he had the good sense to bundle back up as soon as he was able to, but he's sorely regretting the fact that he can't just mass-portal everyone back to the toasty comfort of their own homes at the moment -granted, he's not even certain the not-quite!Camelot houses are sufficiently storm proof.

But for the sake of not scaring the young man who is doing best not to look as uncomfortable on the outside as Magnus is sure he feels on the inside, he'll just keep those concerns to himself. Instead, he pats the space next to him. ]

A. Solstice Streaking
[ Perhaps you’ll be (un)fortunate enough to encounter a man clad in nothing but a monocle, running swiftly through the forest. Bounding alongside him is a qilin, its shiny fish scales reflecting the lights of the will-o-wisps. His long hair is unbound and flying loose behind him, and his skin is covered in scars.

Gu Yun had been offered a robe, and he’d initially taken one; but after hearing the explanation of the ritual’s significance, decided not to do things by half-measures, otherwise what is he here for? He’d participated in the ritual preparations, so he can’t even complain about the temperature: magical warmth flows through his body. So a little ways from the starting point, he’d slipped the robe off, folded it, and rolled it up. Now he’s got it clutched in one hand, like a silken relay baton.

If his cheeks are flushed, that’s just from the exertion, right? The famously shameless Marquis of Order couldn’t possibly be embarrassed about running around in the altogether.

Nothing to see here folks, move along. ]

B. Fairy Fountain
[ Gu Yun stops at the fairy fountain, by this time having inadvertently acquired a woodland entourage of creatures:

a partridge
several types of other birds, all calling, clucking, or cooing
five hinds with golden collar-like rings about their necks
and waddling behind are quite a few geese and swans

Fortunately, his qilin keeps them from coming too close, occasionally chasing away the cheeky pair of doves that want to perch on his bare shoulders.

At the water’s edge, he encounters a group of tiny fairies, all busy doing… something to a mouse. Er, are they milking it? He’s not going to look too closely; hence he doesn’t hear their piping voices nor perceive their tiny lips moving. Instead, feeling a bit thirsty, he kneels down and cups his hands in the water, bringing it up to drink… and spattering a few drops on the stone in the meantime.

Immediately a vision appears: himself, ten years younger (and clothed) being met at the doorway of the Marquis mansion by a teenage boy, handing him a bowl of noodles with an egg dropped in—and the eggshell, too.

Gu Yun startles, letting his hands drop, spilling the rest of the water. After a while, he sighs helplessly. ]

Chang Geng…

C. Moonlight Dance
[ Nine previously-dancing fairies are aggressively pushing Gu Yun (who now finally has his light robe on) out of the fairy circle, holding their ears and cursing. ]

Hey, hey, hey, I’m just playing along, where’s the harm in it?

[ The “harm” in clutched in one hand: a tiny jade flute, from which he has been “playing along” with horrific, ear-splitting results. And now that he’s been pushed out, he has another problem: he hasn’t returned to full size. ]

Um… ladies, if you don’t mind, could you possibly…

[ He is very small, and he has no money, so you can imagine the kind of stress that he is under. Particularly as, while he’s complaining, one of the geese is waddling towards him with a certain look in her eye.

Gu Yun knows he’s a snack, but he doesn’t want to become that kind of snack. Uh, help? ]

D.
 Board Games
[ He thought it was going to be a blanket, but this thing is clearly a mat, inexplicably covered in bright colored circles. He squints at the writing in one corner. ]

“Twister”?

E. The Black Knight
[ In a deep, eldritch tone, the black knight speaks: “Tis but a scratch!

Gu Yun, fully clad in actual armor this time, holds his trusty windslasher aloft; its blades are still dripping with black blood. ]

A scratch? Your arm’s off!

[ Indeed, the mangled remains of the Black Knight’s arm are lying inert on the ground. But just as Gu Yun speaks, that arm wriggles, leaps up, and reattaches itself to the Knight's shoulder.

I’ve had worse,” he says, derisively, as he shakes his arm out and wiggles his fingers.

Gu Yun’s long brows draw together. It isn’t going to be so easy, getting this thing’s sword. He readies himself, lifting his wind slasher once more. ]

Oh hello, cat, nice to meet you. Sorry about the poor weather at the moment, there is nothing we can do right now.

(The cat seems to be in a foul mood right now, but he couldn’t blame him since the weather is at its worst as they speak. The man could easily be mistaken for a relative of Cho based on his appearance. Rose on the other hand is just staring at the cat, completely confused by his temper.)

Will your cat be okay if I pet him?

[ noctis, too, had agreed to help in order to gain more information. he's dressed in one of the light donated robes, still a little chilled from the cold weather, despite the high flush on his cheeks from running through the forest.

he's been told about the so-called mystical properties of the water, but he hasn't had a chance to toss water on the stone. and, as he peers in closely, he's surprised to see a memory of his father, and then himself. he startles a bit, realizing it's ignis staring at the water.

when he speaks, noctis finally finds the energy to speak up himself. ]

Well, I'd be embarrassed if you forgot me that easily.

[ his tone is, despite himself, a little teasing. ]

Not too chilly in those robes, Specs?

Oh, that is just unfortunate. Sorry that your piece fell into a well on your first roll.

(Right, now he has to be extremely careful of which traps are on his piece’s path. On his first roll, it gives him a three and he carefully motions to it to a glowing spot when suddenly lights begin to fly toward the trees on the board, mystifying the young ex-wizard by surprise.)

Wow, did you just see that? I somehow managed to get some energy to flow into the trees.

= Cellars =

[Uenoyama has never seen weather like this. Even back in Lunatia, when he was stuck in a room with Mafuyu for five days straight, it wasn't THIS bad. The town was flooded, yes, but there was no lightning. And he has... other pleasant memories associated with certain nights during the lock-up.

This- this was insane. Uenoyama is sure that if this thing keeps up only debris will be left from the townhouses. And the children are now crying. The women are trying to keep them distracted but whenever there's a rumble they start scampering around.

So Uenoyama, in an attempt to distract them, sits on one of the closed crates, unpacks his guitar, and starts playing. From cheerful tunes to slow tunes, trying to get them to sleep, Uenoyama keeps playing, humming lightly. He can't sing like Mafuyu even if he practiced for hundreds of years. But he got the children's attention and most of them are calming down or dozing off.

Feel free to listen in and chat with him; or ask for a song too!]

( running? fun.
being naked? fine, sure.
all of that at midnight in the middle of winter? they're off their rocker.

he doesn't look cold, certainly not when compared to the woman drawing her winter cloak (thank you, welcome committee) tighter around herself and gritting her teeth, but he has more sense than these people do.

which... isn't saying much right now.
)

Don't think they do. ( who smiles like that while declaring this event? psychopaths, that's who. ) They look like they just suggested a party.

I don't eat meat.

( it's been so many years since she even touched the stuff that she isn't sure how her body would react to just wolfing down a can of beef stew. )

A. Small Soul
Doppo knew he was a complete square when it came to parties and just enjoying oneself, and the pixies found this out really quickly. After refusing to dance with them even after shrinking him down to their size and physically dragging him in, they tossed him back out.

The problem was he was now tiny and had no way to reverse it. The pixies were refusing to associate with him and he was too scared to approach anyone else because of their giant crushing feet.

However that was no longer a choice when a bird decided he looked tasty and he straight up decided strangers were better; he was running over to your leg and hiding behind it as the person got mobbed by a bird. Please don't step on him.

The Second Ritual
Honestly being stuck in a musty cellar with way too many people wasn't much different from rush hour traffic on the train and for a plus, didn't have some rowdy teenager elbowing him in the neck.

What it did have was more dust and random odds and ends that he was pretty sure wouldn't look out of place in a war bunker. And is that- "Oh my god-who would leave their plant down here?!"

He's rescuing the poor thing, trying to gently pull away any broken spines-and there go some into his hand. That's fine. He's dealt with cactus spines before. But he really needed to clear the dust off this poor thing and find a light source. "E-excuse me, do you have any healing magic? Or light magic...?"

( oh. it's a human. or at least, someone who looks like a human. god only knows what some of the Avalon residents may actually be back home. suffice to say, she isn't the only person who's been shrunk to fit.

that's... kind of a relief, really. she likes dancing, but these guys are practicing some footwork she's never done before. stuff that could be choreographed, rather than something where you're just following the beat.
)

Don't throw me around, aye?

( the last partner she'd had was very fond of that, to the extent Kate was beginning to wonder if she'd stumbled into a sudden sparring match without being told. )

Gundham had arrived in the cellar only moments before Zelda. He'd taken care to grab all the animals in his care to bring with him giving the cellar a bit more of a cramped feel to it, as well as adding the distinct smell of damp fur to the already musty cellar. He glanced up from drying off the fox he'd brought with him with a towel he'd found as Zelda entered. The flash of lightning illuminating the bear with a glowing red left eye likely making things a bit more scary looking than they really should be.

"Ah, so we finally meet, face to face. I admit though, I wish it were under better circumstances."

The following boom of thunder was echoed by four small squeaks as the hamsters hiding in his scarf were none too fond of thunder, let alone storms of this magnitude.

“I have flown broomsticks back home, but this is something different, and I don’t know what to say besides it being so fun,” Harry tells trailing behind Zelda as they fly across the skies of Avalon.

Being in the air has reminded him of being on his broomstick back home, whether for fun or during Quidditch matches. He has yet to get over the rush that comes with flying with broomsticks or flying on dragons, even though he had some blunders in trying to get a grip on it at first.

“The view from here is really brilliant right now,” he admires the scenery below them as they dart around with the pixies and nearby participants.

Hm. I wouldn't worry about that. It's still early...

[ Yeah, it's not great, but with any luck... He nods along as Harry's delivery has an effect. Red, of course.

Down in the wells, Kaiba's piece moves with his next roll, blue energy drifting through the waterways. It's not adding up to much yet, but if he makes the right moves later, he can flip this. ]

If you get it all the way up the tree, it'll bloom. Or so the box says. Just watch out for the weather changes---your move.

A solstice celebration is a form of a party. The streaking just isn't part of one I'd ever throw. Or attend.

[ He glances around at a few other participants. Not to stare, but...some people really are going along with this! Oddly, he sees some of them going to a pile of cloth. Someone's trying on a robe, but it's practically sheer. ]

...huh. Is it clothing-optional after all?

[ He points at what he's seeing, but discreetly so he doesn't make a faux pas. ]
